Quang Tri Provincial Leaders Attend the 13th International Gas Forum in the Russian Federation

From October 8 to 11, 2024, the Quang Tri Provincial Delegation led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang attended the 13th International Gas Forum held in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation.

The St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is one of the largest international conferences and exhibitions in the oil and gas industry. Every year, the forum welcomes hundreds of heads of state, governments and CEOs of leading oil and gas corporations and companies from around the world to discuss a wide range of global energy market issues and exchange best solutions. The main events of the forum include a plenary session on the theme: “Natural gas market 2024; the main features of the new world order” along with a large-scale exhibition of advanced technologies and innovations in the oil and gas industry.

In 2024, the Forum will have the largest attendance ever with about 20,000 delegates registered to participate from 53 countries and territories over 4 days.

Within the framework of the event, the Quang Tri Provincial Delegation had a working session with Gazprom International Company. Gazprom International General Director Tumanov Sergey informed about the project implementation status, especially the difficulties and obstacles, and made new proposals on optimal solutions as well as proposed preferential and supportive policies to continue promoting the implementation of project activities in the coming time, emphasizing the necessity of joint support from many levels, in which the decisive factor from the Governments of Vietnam and Russia can further promote.

The delegation of Quang Tri province expressed their joy when the General Director of Gazprom International and key members of Gazprom International Company took the time to receive the delegation, received and appreciated the opinions of experts and businesses on the future development of the oil and gas industry expected to cooperate with Quang Tri province.

On March 25, 2020, the Prime Minister issued Document No. 368/TTg-CN assigning Gazprom International Company under Gazprom Group (Russia) as the Investor of the Quang Tri 340MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant Project under the BOT form.

This is considered one of the driving projects, contributing to helping Quang Tri province realize the goal of forming a regional energy center in Central Vietnam and contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Currently, the project is behind schedule compared to the commitment due to many objective and subjective factors. With the role and responsibility of the locality, in recent years, Quang Tri province has actively implemented tasks and activities related to planning, building the central access traffic axis, planning the connection of power to release capacity, developing a plan for site clearance and has completed the construction of a resettlement area to serve the implementation of the project.

Quang Tri province has also registered to work with the Government Standing Committee and central ministries and branches to research and diversify gas sources from gas fields... to provide additional and backup solutions for fuel sources for Quang Tri gas power plant.

The Quang Tri delegation highly agreed with the opinion of Gazprom International Company to soon make recommendations to the central government and the Government of Vietnam on participating in matching investment resources, investment guarantees, product prices and consumption, supporting localities in consuming gas energy sources and looked forward to welcoming and discussing with the company's leaders during upcoming business trips.

During their working time in the Russian Federation, the Quang Tri Provincial Delegation visited Lenin's Mausoleum and had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Vietnamese Association in Russia and St. Petersburg City to learn more about the lives of a part of the Vietnamese people abroad and opportunities for cooperation in investment, tourism, art and cultural museums, etc.
