Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung sent his best wishes to dignitaries, monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the whole province on the occasion of Buddha's birthday (Buddhist calendar 2568 - Gregorian calendar 2024), and emphasized: In the heroic atmosphere of the entire Party, people and army to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024) and the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024); in recent days, Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and people in the province have organized many activities of profound humanistic significance to express gratitude for the great contributions of generations of fathers and brothers in the cause of national liberation.

On this occasion, Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung also informed the monks, nuns and Buddhists about the outstanding results achieved by the province in the first months of 2024 and emphasized: In the general achievements of the province, there is the extremely important cooperation and contribution of dignitaries, officials and followers of religions in the province in general and of monks, nuns and Buddhists of the province in particular.

Provincial Party Secretary Do Trong Hung stated: Since ancient times, Vietnamese Buddhism has always been a patriotic religion, closely associated with the nation, becoming a beautiful cultural feature of the nation, just as the poem says: "The temple roof protects the nation's soul/The eternal way of life of our ancestors". Today, Buddhism is the religion with the largest number of followers in our country, has many positive influences on social life, contributing to enriching and deepening traditional cultural and ethical values, building human happiness and the independent and autonomous ideology of the Vietnamese people.

During his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh paid great attention to religion and belief. Regarding Buddhism, he said: “Vietnamese Buddhism and the nation are like a shadow and a form, two but one. I hope that monks, nuns and Buddhists will actively practice the spirit of Compassion, Selflessness, Altruism in the cause of saving the country, defending the country and upholding the religion so that all people can live in Independence, Freedom and Happiness”. He also said: “The purpose of Buddhism is to build a life of purity, goodness, equality, joy and prosperity”.

Along with the flow of the nation and the development of Buddhism in the whole country, Thanh Hoa Buddhism has made great strides. The Buddhist Representative Board of Thanh Hoa province was established on November 1, 1984. After 40 years of construction and development, currently the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province has a provincial Sangha Executive Board and 27 district-level Executive Boards. Regarding places of worship, there are 334 pagodas (of which 177 pagodas have abbots). Regarding dignitaries, there are 223 monks and nuns; 667 officials; about 160,000 followers in 27 districts, towns and cities in the province.

In 2023 and the first months of 2024, under the direct leadership of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the direction of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha, the support, assistance and facilitation of Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and departments and branches in the province, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province has achieved important and outstanding results: Monks, nuns and Buddhists in the province are exemplary in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws, especially policies and laws on beliefs and religions.

Attention is paid to the renovation, restoration, expansion and investment in the construction of religious facilities to serve the Buddhist activities of monks, nuns and Buddhists... Charitable and humanitarian work is actively participated in by the Provincial Buddhist Executive Committee and monks, nuns and Buddhists.

Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: 2024 is also the year of an important event for Thanh Hoa Buddhism, which is the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Thanh Hoa province (November 7, 1984 - November 7, 2024) with many activities taking place... In the joyful atmosphere of Buddhists preparing to celebrate the Buddha's birthday, with the consistent spirit of Buddhism being "Kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity", "Selflessness and altruism", "Propagating the Dharma, benefiting all living beings" and the direction of "Dharma - Nation - Socialism" will always be the guiding principle for Buddhist activities of monks, nuns, and Buddhists.

The Provincial Party Secretary believes that in the coming time, monks, nuns, and Buddhists in the province will continue to respond and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, including the Campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy families, and households with housing difficulties in the province launched by the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.
