In the wave of AI technology development, Vietnam has taken strong steps in participating in promoting research, application and human resource development. In 2021, the Vietnamese Government issued the National Strategy on Research, Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence to 2030. After 2 years of implementation, encouraging results have been achieved. In 2022, Vietnam ranked 55th out of 180 countries and territories in the AI Readiness Index, up 7 places compared to 2021, according to a report by Oxford Insights.
Speaking at the Vietnam Innovation Challenge Program held today (March 18), Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong said that the Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 is closely following the context of the semiconductor industry playing an increasingly important role in global economic competition, the strong development of artificial intelligence, and the Vietnamese Government's strategy for developing high-tech industries.
“Vietnam has been gradually perfecting its system of policies and laws on investment and enterprises to create favorable conditions for investors. Implementing many solutions to support Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply in the global supply chain in the semiconductor industry. Seeking and promoting technological solutions to support, develop and spread.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment has also coordinated with ministries and branches to research and develop the Project "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2045" with the goal of training 50,000 engineers by 2030" - said the Deputy Minister.
Also at the event, Dr. Rafael Frankel - Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, Meta Group - shared: " In the future, I think Vietnam will become a dragon of artificial intelligence, promoting semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence in the whole Southeast Asia region ".
According to the leader from Meta, besides the Government's policies, Vietnam has had high determination and entrepreneurial spirit to develop technology. However, Vietnam also needs to maintain an open mindset and continue to be a place for foreign partners to come here to cooperate.
“The important thing now is the 6G Wifi factor, this is a mandatory factor to be able to develop the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industrial platform in the future, ” added Mr. Rafael Frankel.
The Vietnam Innovation Challenge 2024 with the theme “Innovation with businesses to promote the semiconductor industry and artificial intelligence (AI) to conquer the global market” will be an intellectual playground, converging resources to cooperate and create breakthrough ideas.
The program aims to promote collaborative thinking, attract resources, and build a multilateral cooperation platform to create a launching pad for Vietnamese enterprises to increase value and enhance their position in the global value chain. By finding and honoring solutions, the program will contribute to the common goal of spreading awareness about the importance and value of the semiconductor and AI industries.
