According to the planning of Lang Son province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, recently approved by the Prime Minister, Lang Son identifies four development breakthroughs, including developing socio-economic infrastructure, focusing on transport infrastructure, urban areas, industrial zones and clusters.

Vision to 2050, continue to maintain its position as a locality with the most developed road and railway border gate system in Vietnam, a leading important land transit point connecting China - Vietnam, ASEAN and countries around the world.

Therefore, Lang Son determined to closely follow the orientation of national planning to develop the province's transport infrastructure system, ensuring synchronization, modernity, connectivity, and promoting regional connectivity.

In particular, the railway sector will be implemented according to the railway network planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Specifically, renovating and upgrading the Hanoi - Lang Son railway line; upgrading and expanding Yen Trach station, Pho Vi station and renovating Dong Dang station; maintaining the Mai Pha - Na Duong railway branch.

In particular, the rail connection from Dong Dang station to the cargo transit area in the Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone will be arranged; the rail connection from Yen Trach station to Yen Trach dry port will be arranged. At the same time, the new Hanoi - Dong Dang railway planning will be implemented after 2030.

According to the railway network planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the existing Hanoi - Lang Son railway line is 167km long, with a mixed gauge of 1,000mm and 1,435mm, with an investment roadmap to be renovated and upgraded before 2030; the new Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line is 156km long, with a gauge of 1,435mm, with an investment roadmap after 2030.

The Ministry of Transport has assigned the Vietnam Railway Authority to cooperate with international organizations to develop a detailed plan for the Hanoi - Dong Dang railway line to carry out investment preparation for the project.
