On June 9, Thong Nhat General Hospital informed that the unit is receiving and treating a patient with severe burns.
Previously, at around 2:00 a.m. on June 8, patient NHĐ. (born in 1980, construction manager in Trang Bom district, Dong Nai) was hospitalized with severe burns to the face, neck, 2 forearms, and 2 lower legs.
According to Mr. D., he came from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai to work as a construction manager in Trang Bom district. Late on June 7, he and everyone else were sleeping at the construction site's tent when they suddenly discovered a fire. At this time, Mr. D. ran to the construction site's water tank to put out the fire and discovered a person running towards a motorbike in the distance, Mr. LND (born in 1988, construction worker), suspected of being the one who doused it with gasoline and set it on fire.
As a result, Mr. D. suffered severe burns and was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Another person sleeping with him at the camp also suffered minor burns and is being treated at Trang Bom District Medical Center.
Doctor CKII Nguyen Tuong Quang, Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Burns, Thong Nhat General Hospital, said that the patient suffered about 30% severe burns to the legs, head and neck. Due to the severe burns, the patient lost a lot of water, so the doctors focused on rehydration and electrolyte replacement. Currently, the bandages must still be changed and daily care must be provided to avoid infection. At the same time, physical therapy must be performed from now on to avoid future scarring.
