In a statement on the Telegram app on July 22, the Russian Defense Ministry said that 47 UAVs were shot down in the Rostov region in southwestern Russia, 17 in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, eight in the Krasnodar region, where the town of Tuapse is located, and one each in the Belgorod, Voronezh and Smolensk regions.
The agency did not say whether its defense systems destroyed the UAVs, or whether the attack caused any damage.
On Telegram , Sergei Boiko, head of the town of Tuapse in the Krasnodar region, said that infrastructure and residential buildings were not damaged.
Russian officials rarely disclose the full extent of damage caused by Ukrainian attacks. The Tuapse refinery has been the target of several Ukrainian airstrikes since Russia began its war against its neighbor in 2022.
Ukraine has not commented on the information. Kiev often claims that attacks on Russian military , energy and transport infrastructure are in response to Russia's continuous attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Earlier, AFP news agency reported that the Russian army announced that it had taken control of two frontline villages in Ukraine - Andriivka in Luhansk and Pishchane in Kharkov. These two villages are located less than 20 km apart on the frontline.
In a related development, China has just announced that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will visit the country from July 23-26 at the invitation of his host counterpart Wang Yi.
One of the main topics of discussion will be Beijing's possible role in achieving "a just and lasting peace," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in a statement.
