On the afternoon of April 15, Military Hospital 175 held a certificate award ceremony and launched the first international trauma training center in Vietnam.

Major General Tran Quoc Viet, Director of Military Hospital 175, said that according to the mandatory requirements of the United Nations, medical officers and staff when deployed to participate in peacekeeping activities must have a certificate in international trauma first aid, recognized by the United Nations and internationally.

Having an international standard ITLS training center will ensure that Vietnam is completely proactive in training and granting ITLS certificates according to the requirements of the United Nations for the medical force of our country and other countries.

At the launching ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, assessed the launching of the ITLS Center as an important event, marking a new development step in the bilateral relationship on cooperation to enhance UN peacekeeping capacity, contributing to the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development between Vietnam and the US.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan also congratulated Military Hospital 175 on being officially certified by the ITLS Board of Directors (USA) and the Ministry of National Defense's decision to establish the ITLS Center.

Previously, in February 2023, the International Trauma Training Center (ITLS) with US and international standards began implementing international trauma training and instructor training courses at Military Hospital 175, directly trained by US partners.

At the end of the training course, 33 medical staff members of Field Hospital 2.5 were granted international ITLS certificates, ensuring good performance during their work at the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

In the coming time, the center will also support Military Hospital 103 (under the Military Medical Academy) to become the second International Trauma Training Center (ITLS) in Vietnam.

The ITLS Center of Military Hospital 175 is the first center under a military medical unit in Southeast Asia (there are 124 ITLS centers worldwide, including 4 centers in Southeast Asia, 2 in Indonesia, 1 in the Philippines, and 1 jointly operated by Malaysia and Singapore).

Currently, Military Hospital 175 is also operating an international training center meeting American Heart Association (AHA) standards for outpatient emergency care, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (basic and advanced) with 16 qualified instructors, a system of lecture rooms, equipment, and modern simulation training models.
