The Cryptography Engineering Academy, a unit under the Government Cipher Committee (Ministry of National Defense), has just officially announced the 'CIS 2024 National Information Security and Safety Competition'.

The contest is open to college and university students representing colleges, universities and academies nationwide. It is hosted by the Cryptography Academy in coordination with units in the Cryptography industry and a number of businesses in the IT and information security sectors.

This is the first time the 'CIS National Information Security and Safety Competition' has been held and it is expected that this competition will be maintained annually, with the aim of discovering and nurturing talents, promoting the training of high-quality, highly qualified human resources in the field of information security, safety and safety; creating a playground to enhance the ability to exchange and share knowledge of students from universities and technical academies in Vietnam.

The contest also aims to promote, disseminate, raise awareness and responsibility for information security for the community; promote the movement of research, study, experience exchange, and update modern technology knowledge in the field of information security, safety, and security.

Thereby, contributing to the effective implementation of the 'National Cyber ​​Security Strategy, proactively responding to challenges from cyberspace to 2025, vision 2030', approved by the Prime Minister.

The members of the Organizing Committee of the competition are leaders representing units specializing in security, safety, and information security of the Government Cipher Committee, including: Cryptography Engineering Academy, Center for Information Technology and Network Security Monitoring, Institute of Cryptography Science and Technology, Department of Civil Cryptography Management and Cryptography Product Testing and Information Security Magazine. In addition, the competition also has 2 accompanying units: FPT, Samsung Vietnam Research and Development Center.

The organizers said that in the first time, the 'CIS 2024 National Information Security and Safety Competition' is expected to have the participation of 30 teams from 16 leading schools in the field of training in information security, safety and security such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Academy of Cryptography Engineering, University of Information Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, University of Science and Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University, People's Security Academy, FPT University, Phenikaa University...

The teams will compete at two training facilities of the Cryptography Academy in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City for 8 consecutive hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 28, with the content of the practical exam on knowledge and skills in information security and safety, in the form of overcoming challenges - Jeopardy, in areas such as exploiting software/web application vulnerabilities, reverse engineering source code, network investigation, analysis and programming of cryptographic algorithms...

Currently, the information about the competition has been updated by the Organizing Committee on the official website at cis.actvn.edu.vn. Regarding the prize structure, the competition will award prizes to the best student teams, with 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 3 Third Prizes, and 5 Encouragement Prizes.

It is expected that the closing and award ceremony of the 'CIS 2024 National Information Security and Safety Competition' will take place at the Cryptography Engineering Academy right after the competition ends.
