Lam Dong organizes a training conference on human rights work, continuing to protect and promote human rights

On September 6, the Lam Dong Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee coordinated with the Standing Office and the Government Human Rights Steering Committee to organize a training conference on grassroots empowerment work in 2023.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Thong, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee, said that in recent times, the political security situation in the locality has been maintained stable, with no incidents or complicated issues creating "hot spots" or causing bad public opinion.

The implementation of social security policies, ensuring people's rights, freedom of belief and religion are focused on, social protection work, protection of children and vulnerable groups, and meritorious people have achieved many positive results.

The Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Human Rights Steering Committee emphasized that this is an important conference to foster knowledge, raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, social organizations and especially key officials directly directing, advising and implementing human rights work in the province. At the same time, it effectively serves the work of preventing, detecting and combating activities that take advantage of democracy, human rights, ethnicity and religion to slander and distort our country in the Central Highlands in general and Lam Dong in particular.

Thereby, fulfilling well the task of ensuring and promoting human rights in the new situation, especially when Vietnam actively and responsibly participates in its role as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term.

At the conference, delegates were presented by the Government Committee for Religious Affairs and the Standing Office of the Government Human Rights Steering Committee on the following topics: "Ensuring freedom of belief and religion and activities that take advantage of freedom of belief and religion to sabotage Vietnam"; "Work to protect and fight for human rights in the new situation".

The reporters provided updated information and basic knowledge on human rights issues and the Party and State's viewpoints and policies on ensuring freedom of belief and religion; Vietnam's responsibility as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council...

Provide information on activities that take advantage of democracy, human rights, ethnicity, and religion to sabotage Vietnam on international forums and in Lam Dong, in line with specific characteristics; share experiences in combating activities that take advantage of human rights in the new situation.

In his closing speech at the conference, comrade Nguyen Quang Thong emphasized that in the coming time, human rights work will still be directed towards thoroughly exploiting and taking advantage of reactionary and hostile forces to exert pressure, promote internal "self-evolution, self-transformation" factors and incite opposition groups.

Therefore, departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and cities, especially member agencies of the Steering Committee, need to focus on implementing aspects of work to protect and fight for human rights in the following areas: Deploying and implementing specific measures to protect and promote human rights; Continuing to strengthen the participation of the entire political system in promoting and protecting human rights; Strengthening information and propaganda work on human rights and fighting against plots and activities that take advantage of democracy and human rights issues to sabotage Vietnam, especially in cyberspace.
