On the afternoon of March 1, Lam Dong Provincial Police announced that they had issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue a 4-month detention order against Hoang Viet Khanh (born in 1983, residing in Lien Nghia town, Duc Trong district, Lam Dong province) for the crime of "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information and documents aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam".
All decisions and orders have been approved by Lam Dong Provincial People's Procuracy.
Specifically, through state management work, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention and Control, Lam Dong Provincial Police discovered that Khanh had managed and used a number of social network accounts to post, share, and disseminate articles, video clips, and images that defamed the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and insulted President Ho Chi Minh.
After that, the case file was transferred to the Lam Dong Provincial Police Department of Security Investigation to receive and investigate according to its authority. During the verification process, the Security Investigation Department clarified that the articles, video clips, and images on social media accounts were created, posted, shared, and distributed by Hoang Viet Khanh, with content that was assessed as untrue, distorting, and falsifying the actual situation...
After collecting sufficient documents and evidence related to the criminal acts of the subject, considering that Hoang Viet Khanh's criminal acts were very dangerous, occurred over a long period of time, and required criminal prosecution to ensure the strictness of the law, the Lam Dong Provincial Police Department of Security Investigation decided to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and issue a temporary detention order against Hoang Viet Khanh for the crime of "Making, storing, disseminating or propagating information and documents aimed at opposing the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 117 of the 2015 Penal Code (amended and supplemented in 2017).
