Bank interest rates today March 7, 2025, from the highest deposit interest rate of 6.8%/year, this bank has sharply reduced to 5.7%/year. In the market, fewer and fewer banks maintain deposit interest rates above 6%.
After adjusting the interest rate for deposits with terms of 6-9 months down by 0.1% per year on March 3, Vietnam Export Import Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Eximbank ) continued to reduce its interest rate. This is the fourth consecutive time Eximbank has reduced its interest rate since February 18, making it the most active bank in reducing interest rates in recent times.
According to the online interest rate table for late-term interest payment just updated by Eximbank, the 12-month term bank interest rate has been adjusted down by 0.1%/year to 5.5%/year (weekend interest rate is 5.6%/year), the 15-month term has been reduced by 0.3%/year to 5.8%/year.
Notably, the 18-month bank interest rate dropped sharply by 0.4%/year, down to only 5.6%/year, officially losing the 6%/year mark from today.
Along with that, the highest interest rate of 6.1%/year for 24-36 month deposit terms is no longer maintained after being reduced to 5.7%/year.
Eximbank keeps deposit interest rates unchanged for terms from 1-9 months.
Eximbank has brought online savings interest rates on weekends back to the same level as weekday interest rates for terms from 15-36 months.
This bank still leads the market in terms of interest rates for deposits with terms of less than 6 months. The interest rate for online deposits on weekends for terms of 1-2 months is 4.7%/year and for terms of 3-5 months is 4.75%/year.
Eximbank is the bank that has reduced its deposit interest rates the most recently. With 4 announcements of interest rate reductions since February 18, the highest deposit interest rate of up to 6.8%/year has now decreased to 5.7%/year for 24-36 month terms.
The mobilization interest rate of up to 6.4%/year (15-month term) and 6.7%/year (18-month term) has now also decreased to 5.5% and 5.6%/year respectively.
This morning, Vietnam International Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( VIB ) also reduced the interest rate for deposits with terms from 6-11 months by 0.1%/year to 4.7%/year. This is VIB's second interest rate reduction since February 28 after reducing the interest rate for terms from 1-36 months by 0.1%/year.
VIB keeps the interest rates unchanged for the remaining terms. Currently, the online interest rate for 1-month term is 3.7%/year, 2-5 month term is 3.8%/year, 15-18 month term is 5.2%/year and 24-36 month term is listed with the highest interest rate of 5.3%/year.
Apart from VIB and Eximbank, interest rates at other banks remain unchanged, of which Sacombank and PVCombank have never adjusted interest rates since August 2024.
According to statistics, 13 banks reduced deposit interest rates in March 2025, including: PGBank, Viet A Bank, Kienlongbank, Bac A Bank, Eximbank, IVB, LPBank, Nam A Bank, NCB, SHB, VCBNeo, Hong Leong Vietnam, VIB. Of which, Eximbank is the bank that has reduced interest rates twice since the beginning of the month.
Previously, right after the meeting with the State Bank on February 25, a series of banks reduced deposit interest rates in the last 3 days of February, including: BVBank, MSB, VietBank, Saigonbank, VIB, BaoVietBank.
