La Liga president Javier Tebas said the league had requested Olmo's registration be revoked as a precautionary measure. Tebas confirmed that he had filed an appeal with the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) and that the measure would replace the previous one.
According to Tebas, Barcelona declared themselves out of compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations on December 31, but attempted to register Dani Olmo on January 3, claiming compliance with the regulations. Although Barcelona met the 1:1 requirement, the registration was still cancelled by La Liga. Tebas explained that Barca were not eligible to register the player at that time, and the cancellation was carried out immediately.
Despite La Liga's refusal to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, Barcelona took the matter to court and won a favorable ruling, with the Court ordering the league to allow the club to register the players. Tebas, however, maintains that La Liga acted within the law. A final decision is expected in February or March, and the legal battle continues to highlight the tensions between La Liga and Barcelona over financial regulations meant to control club spending, as Barcelona needs to protect their right to register players to regain their position in the league and in Europe.
