La Gi: Coastal road is the driving force for economic development

Necessary investment in coastal roads

Chairman of La Gi Town People's Committee Pham Trong Nhan said: With 28km of coastline and beautiful natural landscape, La Gi has many favorable conditions for developing tourism and marine economy. However, the local tourism industry has not yet developed commensurate with its potential and available advantages. Many coastal tourism projects are still facing difficulties in investment and construction because there is no convenient access route. Therefore, in order to contribute to creating a typical landscape for the coastal city, developing the local trade and tourism services industry, contributing to implementing the tasks of activities according to the theme of 2023 selected by the Provincial Party Committee (term XIV): "Urban beautification, preserving and protecting the environment, green, clean and beautiful landscape" associated with coordinating the good organization of the National Tourism Year 2023 in Binh Thuan. At the same time, synchronously and modernly connect the technical infrastructure system for the inner and outer coastal areas to build La Gi with a sustainable urban structure, creating resources to form key projects to develop the coastal area. The town needs to invest in the road along the coast. On the other hand, investing in the road not only contributes to the economic development of the locality, but also has a particularly important meaning in terms of national security, rescue, and climate change prevention of the town and neighboring areas.

Through surveying the scale of the coastal route according to the town's general planning project, it is quite long, about 18.6km, so the Town People's Committee has proposed to invest in a section with a total length of about 5.32km. However, due to the large scale of the route with a high total investment of the project, in the period of 2023 - 2025, the Town People's Committee plans to invest in phase 1 of the project with a total length of about 2.95km. The project implementation period is at the end of the period of 2021 - 2025 and transition to the period of 2026 - 2030 with a total estimated investment of the project of about more than 235 billion VND...

Ensuring public access to marine areas

During the survey of the La Gi coastal road project at the end of July, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai affirmed that the investment in the construction of the coastal road in the town aims to gradually complete the technical infrastructure system, meeting the travel and goods circulation needs of the people in the area. At the same time, it is the driving force for the development of tourist areas, coastal urban areas, promoting the socio-economic development of the town and neighboring localities; serving rescue and relief, ensuring security and national defense. Therefore, the investment in the construction of the La Gi coastal road is necessary, in accordance with the planning. Through a direct survey, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai requested La Gi town and related departments and branches to continue to study and propose appropriate project planning, in which it is noted that the planning of the scale of the coastal road must be considered for synchronous adjustment, and the starting point must be calculated harmoniously. At the same time, it is necessary to calculate the connecting roads with the coastal road to ensure people's access to the coastal area, paying special attention to drainage works. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested La Gi town in the planning to determine the expected location for the parking lot for the coastal road to serve the needs of tourists.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted that the town needs to calculate the scale of the entire route according to the general scale, but it is not necessary to plan 49m from the starting point to the end point, and must ensure connectivity. For the Dinh River area, La Gi town coordinates with the Department of Construction to study the bridge over the river; at the sections where embankments are expected to be built, it must be ensured. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee agrees with the proposal of La Gi town on the investment scale in the direction of investing in the northern coastal axis of the town so that tourism projects can come into operation to create development momentum. However, La Gi town needs to have an appropriate investment policy. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and branches to support La Gi town People's Committee to complete the next procedures to implement the La Gi coastal tourism road project.

Phase 1 of the project has a total length of about 2.95km, of which the coastal tourist road is about 2.5km long; Tran Khanh Du Street is about 0.45km long. Specifically, the tourist road has a starting point adjacent to Le Quang Dinh Street; the end point adjacent to Tran Khanh Du Street; a 49m roadbed; completed structure includes: Asphalt concrete road surface; sidewalk paving; arrangement of electricity, drainage systems, embankment reinforcement, trees and parking lots at some necessary locations... Tran Khanh Du Street has a starting point adjacent to the coastal tourist road; the end point adjacent to Hung Vuong Street; a 27m roadbed; completed structure includes: Asphalt concrete road surface; sidewalk paving; arrangement of electricity, drainage systems, trees along the route...
