Signing of cooperation for the poor

Our Party and State have identified sustainable poverty reduction as a major, important, consistent and continuous policy in the process of implementing the renovation, construction and development of the country. In recent years, with the direction of Party committees and organizations and the active participation of the entire political system, the province's poverty reduction work has achieved many outstanding results.

The results

With the relatively synchronous and timely implementation of poverty reduction policies, especially policies to support production development in ethnic minority areas, the lives and incomes of the general population and the majority of the poor have been significantly improved. Regular support policies for poor and near-poor households such as preferential credit, healthcare,education , and housing have been implemented promptly.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province mobilizes resources to build houses for poor households.

In addition, activities to support the poor and social security are regularly organized. In 2022 alone, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels in the province mobilized over 17.7 billion VND/9.5 billion VND, reaching a rate of 186.8%. From the "For the Poor" Fund and from the support of organizations, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province, 101 houses were built and 27 houses were repaired for poor households with a total amount of 5.146 billion VND. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at all levels in the province and socio-political organizations at all levels coordinated to mobilize businesses, philanthropists, units inside and outside the province and disbursed the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels in the province to visit and give 162,950 Tet gifts with a total value of more than 92 billion VND to support poor households, policy families, disadvantaged people, and social protection beneficiaries in the province. Thereby, contributing to the activities of caring for and helping poor households, near-poor households, and people in especially difficult circumstances to stabilize their lives, find a livelihood, work and produce, and escape poverty...

Coordination of poverty reduction implementation

In addition to the achievements, the poverty reduction results are not really sustainable, the risk of re-poverty and poverty generation is high, the poverty rate in some places is still high, life is still difficult, especially in ethnic minority areas. Some mechanisms, policies and poverty reduction programs are not really effective, a part of the poor still have the mentality of waiting and relying on the support of the State and the community, not proactively rising out of poverty... In 2023, Binh Thuan strives to reduce the poverty rate to 2.06%, a decrease of 0.52% compared to the end of 2022.

In order to effectively implement the multidimensional poverty reduction target and continue to carry out the movement "For the poor - No one is left behind", recently the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have coordinated to implement the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021 - 2025. This is the first coordination for the poor of the two units. Accordingly, the coordination focuses on promoting propaganda and mobilizing all classes of people to raise awareness and actions on consciousness and responsibility for sustainable poverty reduction. Specifically, guiding the poor and poor households to have knowledge and experience in labor production, proactively rise up to escape poverty, not waiting for or relying on the help of the State and society. At the same time, propagate, mobilize, and widely disseminate to poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped-poverty households to participate in the program, benefit, and share experiences and good practices to arouse the will to be self-reliant, self-reliant, and strive to escape poverty sustainably...

In addition, mobilize resources to support the poor and poor households to sustainably reduce poverty. Specifically, the two units will develop a plan to implement the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, integrating with other programs to ensure focused resources to effectively implement the contents and activities that have a widespread effect, promoting the advantages of each locality. At the same time, mobilize units, organizations and individuals to support the "For the Poor" Fund and implement social security programs. Along with that, mobilize well-off households to help poor households; localities with developed economic conditions to help disadvantaged localities. Continue to replicate effective poverty reduction models to support the poor to have stable jobs, good income, and escape poverty sustainably...

With the coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, it is expected that the program will contribute to effectively implementing the goal of multidimensional poverty reduction, supporting the poor and poor households in the province to improve their quality of life, and reduce the poverty rate to the lowest level.

The annual poverty rate has decreased significantly, with 2,030 households escaping poverty in 2022 alone, a decrease of 0.62% compared to the beginning of the year.
