Signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the period 2024-2026 between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Salavan province and the Lao Fatherland Front Committee for National Construction of Salavan province

This afternoon, July 16, in Dong Ha City, a meeting was held to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for the period 2024-2026 between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri Province and the Lao Front for National Construction of Salavan Province. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri Province Dao Manh Hung and Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Salavan Province Kham Ta Ho Song Luong chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, the two sides informed each other about the socio-economic situation, national defense and security, and the activities of the Fatherland Fronts in the two provinces. At the same time, they assessed the results of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed on June 8, 2022 in Salavan province.

During the period of 2023-2025, the leaders of Quang Tri and Salavan provinces have carried out many activities within the framework of the high-level agreement between the two provinces. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and the Lao Front for National Construction of Salavan province have actively coordinated and exchanged information in implementing the memorandum of understanding signed for the period of 2022-2024.

The good results in development cooperation, multiplying the friendship and special solidarity between the two provinces are vivid proof of the sustainable solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties and peoples of Vietnam and Laos in general, and Quang Tri and Salavan provinces in particular.

With the spirit of solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development, the exchange activities, experience sharing and talks this time will continue to contribute to further promoting the coordination of activities of the Fatherland Front Committees of Quang Tri and Salavan provinces, actively contributing to bringing the relationship between the two provinces to a new stage of development.

Within the framework of the talks, the delegations of the two sides proposed a number of cooperation contents in the period of 2024 - 2026 to continue to strengthen, consolidate and enhance coordination activities between the Fatherland Front Committees of the two provinces.

At the end of the talks, the two sides discussed and agreed on the organization of coordination work in the 2024 - 2026 period with 8 important contents such as: continuing to exchange experiences; propagating and mobilizing people of all walks of life, especially people in the border areas of the two countries to strengthen solidarity, grasp the guidelines, policies, and laws of the two countries.

Strengthening the role of the Front in contributing to the construction and consolidation of an increasingly strong political system in the border areas, building solidarity and friendship among the people of all ethnic groups. Mobilizing and promoting the development of infrastructure in the border areas, arranging stable accommodation and jobs for the people.

Continue to mobilize the people of the two provinces in general, and the people living along the Salavan - Quang Tri border in particular, to contribute to ensuring national defense and security, protecting border areas and national border markers. Continue to strengthen propaganda and education work to help people understand the regulations, laws, and customs of each side. Encourage and mobilize people to exchange culture, arts, and sports during holidays and New Year of the two provinces, creating solidarity, mutual love, and mutual assistance.

At the same time, direct and lead the fronts of adjacent border districts to strengthen effective cooperation and twinning relationships between villages, coordinate to promptly resolve issues arising on the border line to build a peaceful, friendly and developed border line.

Timely share information, coordinate to resolve proposals and recommendations of people living along the border. Coordinate to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people, in accordance with the laws of each country.
