17th session of Dong Ha City People's Council, term XII

This morning, December 21, the 12th Dong Ha City People's Council, term 2021-2026, held its 17th session to assess the socio-economic situation, national defense and security in 2023, tasks and solutions in 2024 and implement a number of contents according to the law. In 2023, Dong Ha City achieved and exceeded 8/13 main targets for socio-economic development; economic growth rate reached 9.77%; economic structure continued to shift in the right direction. The city has focused on implementing synchronous solutions to remove difficulties in production and business and promote administrative reform, creating a public and transparent investment environment.

Total budget revenue in the area is estimated at 491,629 billion VND, reaching 94% of the provincial estimate and 68.2% of the city's estimate; total social investment capital is estimated at 7,412 billion VND, up 12% compared to 2022...

Culture and society have achieved many important results. Notably, education is a key sector; quality of medical examination and treatment, health care for the people; material and spiritual life of the people, the poverty rate has decreased by 0.25% compared to the beginning of 2023. National defense and security are ensured, the organization and implementation of the 2023 city defense area exercise have been excellent.

At the meeting, the City People's Council delegates focused on discussing, reviewing and giving opinions on reports of the City People's Committee on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan, national defense and security, budget revenue and expenditure, public investment, direction and administration, the situation of receiving and handling citizens' complaints and denunciations in 2023 and tasks and solutions for implementation in 2024.

The City People's Council listened to the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city report on the work of participating in government building in 2023; reviewed reports on the results of implementing tasks in 2023 and the directions and tasks in 2024 of the People's Court, the People's Procuracy, and the City Civil Judgment Enforcement Office; reported on the activities of the City People's Council in 2023 and the directions and tasks in 2024. Implemented the process of electing members of the City People's Committee and organized a vote of confidence for the positions elected by the City People's Council.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Dong Ha City Party Committee Le Quang Chien suggested that the City People's Council should closely follow the goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th City Party Congress and the conclusion of the City Party Executive Committee on the socio-economic situation, national defense and security in 2023 and the direction and tasks in 2024 to discuss and decide on appropriate, fundamental, practical, highly feasible goals, tasks and solutions that demonstrate determination, outstanding efforts and aspirations to rise up in the coming year.

At the same time, focus on implementing solutions to create favorable conditions for economic sectors to develop. Focus on replicating and developing high-tech agricultural models, building brands for some typical local products. Strengthen solutions to increase revenue and nurture budget revenue sources, ensuring continued ability to balance regular expenditures.

Focus on mobilizing investment resources in society, support resources from the central government, the province and enterprises located in the area for investment and development. Develop the economy in harmony with cultural development, associated with social progress and equity. Focus on solutions to promote administrative reform; enhance the application of information technology, build e-government, and digital transformation in all fields.

Secretary of the Dong Ha City Party Committee Le Quang Chien also requested the City People's Council to continue to improve the quality of its activities; strengthen supervision activities so that each resolution of the People's Council is close to reality, in line with the people's wishes and quickly comes into life. Immediately after this session, the City People's Committee, all levels, sectors and localities are requested to urgently develop programs and plans to effectively implement the resolutions passed by the City People's Council.

The 17th session of the 12th Dong Ha City People's Council took place from December 21-22.
