On September 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism had quick statistics on the tourism situation in the area during the 4-day National Day holiday of September 2.
Specifically, the total number of visitors to tourist and entertainment areas reached about 980,000, an increase of 2% over the same period in 2023. In particular, domestic tourists to Ho Chi Minh City increased by 1.2%, with 425,000 visitors and international visitors increased by 3.2% with 38,800 visitors.
Accommodation establishments recorded a significant increase in the number of guests staying, with approximately 214,630 arrivals and room occupancy reaching 85%, up 6.3% over the same period last year. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND2,940 billion, up 1.7%.
The increase in revenue comes not only from the increase in the number of tourists, but also from tourism stimulus policies and improved service quality from travel agencies and accommodation establishments.
Hotel room occupancy also increased compared to the same period thanks to hotels launching many attractive promotional and discount packages.
Typically, Rex Saigon Hotel offers incentives for guests booking at least 5 consecutive nights, Grand Saigon Hotel introduces room packages from 2.699 million VND/night, while Kim Do Hotel has sharply reduced room rates to only 1.4 million VND/night with many additional incentives.
On this occasion, the Department of Tourism continued to organize the program "Visiting the national architectural and artistic relic of the Headquarters of the People's Council and People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City", attracting 1,848 visitors. Visitors were warmly welcomed, contributing to promoting the history and culture of the city.
In addition, many other famous tourist destinations have also attracted a large number of visitors thanks to preferential programs and special cultural events. The Cu Chi Tunnels historical relic site offers a 30% discount on tickets for group visitors and organizes an exhibition of cultural artifacts of the S'Tieng ethnic group.
Suoi Tien Tourist Area and Dam Sen Cultural Park have organized many art performances, fireworks displays and discounted entrance tickets for visitors, creating a vibrant and joyful festival atmosphere for locals and visitors.
On the occasion of September 2nd holiday, Ho Chi Minh City also launched a series of deep discount programs, from 30 - 50%, even some items are discounted up to 80% - Photo: PHUONG QUYEN
Commercial and shopping areas in Ho Chi Minh City also launched a series of deep discount programs, from 30 - 50%, even up to 80% off some items, especially in the consumer goods and fashion groups. These programs not only stimulate consumer demand but also contribute to promoting shopping tourism, attracting more tourists to the city.
According to businesses, although Ho Chi Minh City recorded nearly 1 million visitors during the holiday, this number could have been higher if the weather conditions had been favorable, as continuous rain has affected many outdoor activities.
The extended holiday season has helped many families and young groups choose domestic and international travel, focusing on nearby destinations such as Vung Tau, Nha Trang, Thailand and Singapore. This trend also partly reflects the need for short-term travel, cost savings and convenient travel.
