On March 28, 2024, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong, Trade Counselor of Vietnam in India, attended the global networking event of the South Surat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) with Mission 84. This is a good model for Vietnam's trade promotion centers to learn from.
Mission 84 (M84), an initiative of SGCCI, aims to bring the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and businesses of South Gujarat in particular and India in general to promote international trade and global connectivity.
Although it is a local Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a state of India, SGCCI has been very active and proactive in connecting with diplomatic missions in India and Indian embassies in continents around the world. Besides, SGCCI also connects with other state governments in India, central government, export promotion councils of specialized industries, trade organizations, central and local Chambers of Commerce and Industry, experts, researchers, scholars, etc.
The goal of SGCCI is to bring entrepreneurs together and create opportunities for cooperation, innovation and development regardless of geographical scope and business sector, while connecting organizations to carry out trade promotion, connection and business support with the goal of improving business efficiency, connection and bringing value to businesses and the community.
SGCCI's outstanding activities include knowledge sharing and training programs, organizing seminars, conferences, exhibitions, promoting trade connections, meeting sellers and buyers... to promote trade and investment.
SGCCI is committed to develop and grow the SME segment in South Gujarat region by implementing various government initiatives. With the advantage of sea and industrial clusters, Surat has a strong manufacturing base and contributes significantly to the national GDP with the participation of SME.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bui Trung Thuong welcomed the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its good initiative to connect globally. Vietnam is proud to be one of the first countries invited to attend when SGCCI discussed this initiative in June 2023. Vietnamese enterprises have had strong cooperation in Surat. Mr. Thuong invited SGCCI to organize a business delegation to attend trade promotion programs in Vietnam such as the Vietnam Expo in April; the forum and fair of Vietnamese export goods in 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City in May and the Vietnam International Sourcing fair in June....
