Kim Duyen and Le Hang compete for the first time at VnExpress Marathon Hue

Runners-up Kim Duyen and Le Hang participated for the first time in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system, distances of 10km and 21km, starting in Hue on April 21.

The two beauties said they accepted the endurance challenge after being invited by their close brother who has participated in the VnExpress Marathon six times - Bao Hoang, CEO of the Saigon Universe Joint Stock Company (Unicorp). Previously, he had invited Ngoc Chau, Xuan Hanh, and Thuy Tien to "commit" themselves to the running path.

Kim Duyen hopes to surpass her own limits in the race on April 21. "At first, I planned to register for 10km, but hesitated when I learned that my sisters in the 'Universe family' like Ngoc Chau and Thuy Tien all ran 21km. I thought it would be more fun and meaningful if the whole group ran together, and who knows, maybe I will conquer the half marathon in my first time participating in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system?", she said. However, after careful consideration, she still kept the 10km mark, setting the goal of not giving up halfway.

Nature, people, and Hue cuisine are some of the reasons why Kim Duyen came to this race. VnExpress Marathon Hue is also the first major race in the life of the Miss Supranational 2022 runner-up. Before that, she participated in some small-scale charity races, running 3 or 5km.

Every day, Kim Duyen spends an hour doing gym, cardio, and most of all, jogging, an average of 5-6km. She revealed that she formed this habit when she participated in Miss Universe Vietnam. "At that time, I had to run at high intensity to burn 800 calories a day," she said.

Currently, the runner-up's running schedule is lighter, mainly to maintain health, tone muscles and balance life. This sport also helps her contemplate many things, have time to reflect on herself and her work. Thanks to the marathon, she connected with many new friends. In the future, the beauty will increase her training to conquer 21km with the Universe sisters.

Besides, Kim Duyen also plays many different sports such as tennis, swimming to avoid boredom and good for different muscle groups. She explains that when the body is healthy, the skin will naturally be better. "There is no skin care method as effective as taking care of the body from the inside", she advises women. After the Hue tournament, Kim Duyen will focus on a series of personal art and business plans.

Similar to Kim Duyen, Le Hang also participated in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system for the first time. However, she registered for 21km like Ngoc Chau, Thuy Tien and Bao Hoang, fought hard and did not give up, reaching the finish line before the organizers closed the race gate. The runner-up admitted that she was brave, because she had never challenged herself at this distance before.

For Le Hang, running is to stay healthy, increase endurance, and at the same time train perseverance and strive to achieve her goals. Currently, she has increased her running frequency, adding 1km each day. Before the race, she will rest, stretch and recharge her energy.

To maintain her mental, physical and spiritual health, Le Hang also meditates every day. She follows a simple diet consisting of little fish, lots of vegetables and fruits. "To keep my body healthy and radiate positive energy, I don't forget to smile," the 2015 Miss Universe Vietnam runner-up added.

VnExpress Marathon Hue 2024 is expected to attract 8,000 athletes, and is one of the events that kicks off the summer festival themed "Shining Imperial City". This year, the organizers have adjusted the route, with the starting point of the four distances being Le Duan Street (near Nha Do Gate), and the finishing point being Quang Duc Gate. The race will pass through many famous monuments, bearing the mark of the ancient capital.

Last year, during the three days of the tournament, the tourism industry of Thua Thien Hue province welcomed about 32,500 visitors, with revenue reaching 55.5 billion VND. In 2022, VnExpress Marathon was honored by the province in the top 10 typical cultural and sports events with great impact in the community.
