On June 25, Foreign Minister Cohen shared on the country's Army Radio: "I have stated that we support the sovereignty and integrity (of territory) of Ukraine."
Mr. Cohen also said that Tel Aviv voted in favor of Kiev at the United Nations. Soldiers from both sides met and Israel also provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Earlier the same day, the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel affirmed that Tel Aviv had chosen the path of establishing closer relations with Russia, instead of supporting Kiev.
Specifically, the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel said: “This is evidenced by a series of controversial events in the first half of 2023, coinciding with Tel Aviv's almost complete lack of humanitarian assistance to Kiev.”
To prove the above argument, the statement issued by the Ukrainian Embassy on June 25 mentioned several events this year and commented that the visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister to Ukraine in February 2023 was "useless".
The statement also mentioned interviews with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In particular, Mr. Netanyahu has repeatedly affirmed that Tel Aviv will not provide weapons to Kiev for security reasons, fearing that the weapons will fall into the hands of Iran and be used against Israel.
According to Ukrainian diplomats , in the face of the current conflict, the Israeli leadership is “hiding” behind its neutrality, while actively cultivating relations with Russia.
Since the beginning of 2022, Ukraine has repeatedly asked Israel to provide weapons, including air defense systems, but the country has repeatedly rejected all of Kiev's requests.
The Israeli government said that in the interests of national security, Tel Aviv will only assist Kiev insofar as it can, such as with humanitarian aid and non-lethal equipment.
