GRDP growth ranks first in the country
Following the achievements of 2023, in the first 6 months of 2024, the economic growth rate (GRDP) continued to reach 14.14%, ranking first in the country. With the strong development of infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters and the constantly improving investment and business environment, Bac Giang continues to be the top choice of domestic and foreign investors. In July, in Bac Giang province, there were 141 enterprises, 7 branches, representative offices and 74 newly registered business locations with a total registered capital of 1,008 billion VND, 1.7 times higher than the same period. In the first 7 months, there were 992 newly established enterprises, equal to 81.5% of the same period; registered capital of 8,623 billion VND, equal to 46.8% of the same period in 2023.
In the first 7 months of the year, the whole province attracted 1,543.65 million USD in investment capital. Of which, 18 new domestic projects were granted with registered capital of 11,085.74 billion VND; 44 projects with foreign direct investment (FDI) capital, registered capital of 348.31 million USD. Currently, the province has 599 valid FDI projects, with total attracted capital of 12.25 billion USD, from 30 countries and territories. Bac Giang is one of the leading provinces in the country in attracting FDI. FDI projects focus mainly on the fields of manufacturing and processing electronic components, garments, logistics, etc.
In addition, the socio-economic infrastructure system, especially transport, urban, industrial and service infrastructure, has been invested synchronously, ensuring connectivity, comprehensiveness and modernization, promoting regional linkages, territorial division and cooperation, ensuring the potentials, strengths and comparative advantages of each locality in the Central and Northern mountainous regions.

In particular, the province's business investment environment has been constantly improved, ranking among the top in the country; administrative reform has made a breakthrough, creating fundamental changes, promoting the work of attracting resources for development. In 2023, Bac Giang ranked 4th out of 63 provinces and cities in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and 4th out of 63 provinces and cities in the Administrative Reform Index (PAR Index), and 10th out of 63 provinces and cities in the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI).
In construction and development, Bac Giang always closely links economic growth targets with cultural and social development, ensuring social security, welfare, progress and equity; the material and spiritual life of the people continues to be improved and enhanced. GRDP per capita in 2023 will reach 3,950 USD/person, 4.5 times higher than in 2010, 2.2 times higher than in 2015.

More opportunities to connect and collaborate
In recent years, Bac Giang province has paid attention to and implemented policies related to overseas Vietnamese (OVs), especially Resolution 36, Directive 45, Conclusion 12 of the Politburo, Resolution 169 of the Government, Resolution 1334/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. The province focuses on connecting, attracting, and promoting overseas Vietnamese resources to participate in promoting, advertising, and building Bac Giang province in the new situation.
To improve the effectiveness of NVNONN work, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province issued the Project on Connecting, Attracting and Promoting NVNONN Resources towards the development of Bac Giang in the period of 2021-2030; Plan No. 1244/KH-UBND dated March 25, 2022 to implement the Project. The province established a Steering Committee and a Working Group to implement tasks on NVNONN work in a comprehensive and unified manner.

At the same time, to connect and strengthen the activities of Bac Giang people abroad, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations established a Liaison Committee for Bac Giang people abroad. Currently, the province has 9 bilateral friendship associations with more than 6,000 members; 3 Bac Giang compatriot associations abroad (in the Czech Republic, Japan and Korea).
Up to now, Bac Giang has about 3,700 people living and settling abroad in 42 countries and territories; mainly concentrated in Northeast Asian countries, accounting for more than 60%. The amount of remittances sent to the province has increased, reaching about 252.3 million USD by the end of 2023, contributing significantly to promoting the province's economy in general and improving people's lives in particular.
In recent years, Bac Giang province has actively paid attention to and sent delegations of leaders and delegates of the province to participate in events for overseas Vietnamese organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Overseas Vietnamese Committee, Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad, and the overseas Vietnamese community such as: Hung King's Commemoration Ceremony in Japan; Annual Homeland Spring Program; Meeting Korea Conference; Meeting Japan Conference; Diplomatic Conferences; Conference on Promoting Overseas Vietnamese Resources, Connecting Localities and Enterprises in Hai Phong; The Second Overseas Vietnamese Economic Forum in Japan; participating in the Overseas Vietnamese delegation visiting the military and people of Truong Sa island... Through these events, leaders and delegates of Bac Giang province have the opportunity to meet with outstanding overseas Vietnamese, intellectuals, and businessmen; thereby exchanging information about the province, expressing the need and desire to connect and attract overseas Vietnamese in general, and Bac Giang people abroad in particular, to pay attention to the development of the province; gradually arouse in overseas Vietnamese, especially the young generation, national pride, love for the homeland, and the desire to join hands to build Bac Giang to become more and more developed.

In addition, in the process of implementing the Project on NVNONN, Bac Giang province has proactively organized many direct and online working sessions with the State Committee on NVNONN and the Departments, Divisions, agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassies; received and worked with the delegation of overseas Vietnamese businessmen from Thailand, Korea, Japan, the US, Laos; Delegation of Bac Giang Association of Compatriots in Japan, Korea visiting and working in the province. Thereby, taking advantage of the support to strengthen the relationship of the province with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Embassies in Vietnam, overseas Vietnamese associations in effectively implementing the contents of the Project on NVNONN; actively contributing to improving the effectiveness of the province's foreign affairs in the new situation.
In particular, the contribution of the Bac Giang Association in Japan, which connected Bac Giang province to sign a memorandum of understanding on medical cooperation with Osaka Metropolitan University (Japan). The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 3 individuals who have made positive contributions to promoting cooperation in training and developing medical human resources in Bac Giang province. Through the effective connection of the NVNONN community in Bac Giang province, the Japan-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Promotion Council (JVPF) provided three hundred million VND in aid to ethnic minority students in difficult circumstances who are striving at Luc Son Secondary School, Luc Nam District.
Bac Giang also strengthens foreign information work; promotes propaganda of the Party and State's guidelines, policies and guidelines so that overseas Vietnamese can properly implement the laws of the host country and Vietnam; actively propagates, mobilizes and connects overseas Vietnamese in general and Bac Giang people in particular to take specific and practical actions towards their homeland and country; pays attention to connecting and contributing to promoting relations between Vietnam and other countries, between the province and appropriate localities abroad. At the same time, actively compiles promotional documents, introduces the potential and strengths of the province, translates them into many languages to exchange information on the province's needs in attracting investment, developing tourism, especially the need to connect, form distribution channels, export high-quality agricultural products, food, and OCOP products of the province abroad.

With the above efforts, the province has more opportunities to promote its image to partners, diplomats, and overseas Vietnamese in interested countries, to learn about new policies and guidelines in attracting domestic investment in general and in the province in particular; opening up many opportunities for connection and cooperation in trade and investment in the coming time.
In the future, to take advantage of overseas Vietnamese resources to build Bac Giang in the new situation, the province hopes that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad will continue to support the province in promoting and introducing the province's potential and cooperation needs to localities, potential partners abroad and the overseas Vietnamese community. Continue to create conditions and support the activities of overseas Bac Giang compatriot associations; pay attention to reviewing the overseas Vietnamese community to gather and guide overseas Bac Giang compatriot associations and groups to strengthen and proactively connect with the province.
The province expects that each overseas Vietnamese businessman and intellectual will be like an "ambassador" promoting the dynamic investment environment, the land, culture and people of Bac Giang to international friends.
