Overseas Vietnamese join hands to realize the aspiration to develop the country

On the afternoon of July 2, in Ho Chi Minh City, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) informed about the 4th World Conference on Overseas Vietnamese; the Forum of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in 2024 and the Vietnam Summer Camp program in 2024.

Regarding these special events, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Chairwoman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said that from August 21 to 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will preside over and coordinate with relevant ministries, departments, branches and localities to organize the 4th World Conference on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Forum for Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts, which will take place in Hanoi.

With the theme: “NVNONN join hands to realize the aspiration to develop the country”, through the conference and forum above, it aims to help domestic agencies grasp the situation, aspirations, difficulties and problems of NVNONN. From there, promote the work of caring for and supporting overseas Vietnamese. On the other hand, create a forum for overseas Vietnamese, especially overseas intellectuals and businessmen, to contribute ideas and suggestions for the construction and development of the country in the new situation.

Notably, on August 22, after the opening session, the 2024 Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts Forum will take place, with the content: "Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals and experts give advice on issues of green and sustainable development of the country".

In addition, there will be 4 thematic sessions taking place on the afternoon of August 22, covering the following areas: Overseas Vietnamese with the development of high technology in Vietnam; Overseas Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs accompanying the country; great national unity, association work and the role of the young generation of overseas Vietnamese; Overseas Vietnamese - Ambassadors of Vietnamese culture and language...

As of the end of June 2024, more than 220 delegates from 30 countries and territories have registered.

In parallel with the above two events, the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024 will also take place from July 14 to 29 in many localities across the country. This is an annual program (since 2003) chaired by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and coordinated with relevant agencies, aiming to create conditions for the young generation of overseas Vietnamese from all over the world to return to the country to learn about the traditions, culture and history of the nation and to exchange and strengthen solidarity.

The delegates attending the program, introduced by the Vietnamese representative agencies abroad, are children of overseas Vietnamese families who have contributed to the community and the homeland. The Vietnam Summer Camp 2024 program is expected to have the participation of 120 delegates from 27 countries and territories.
