According to the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in the first quarter, the number of deaths due to traffic accidents continued to be controlled and decreased compared to the same period in 2023, down 484 deaths, however, the number of traffic accidents and the number of people injured due to traffic accidents tended to increase (up 1,194 cases and up 1,847 injured people).

In the first quarter of 2024, the national traffic police force inspected and handled 1,035,240 cases of traffic safety violations on roads, railways and inland waterways, imposed fines of more than VND 2,041 billion, revoked 206,468 driving licenses, certificates and professional certificates; and temporarily detained 373,545 vehicles of all kinds.

In Hai Duong, in the first quarter of 2024, the whole province had 215 traffic accidents and collisions, killing 53 people and injuring 180 people. Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 141 more cases, 8 more deaths, and 133 more injuries. The functional forces in the province detected and handled 10,405 violations, imposed a total fine of 33.87 billion VND, revoked 3,584 driving licenses, and detained 3,772 vehicles.

Concluding the conference, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang requested that in the second quarter, ministries, branches and localities continue to resolutely implement the key tasks of the 2024 traffic safety year associated with the theme "Respecting the law to build a culture of safe traffic"; continue to organize in-depth working sessions on prominent issues in ensuring traffic order and safety, on that basis, advise, recommend and propose solutions suitable to the new situation.

Directing the drastic and synchronous implementation of solutions to ensure traffic safety and prevent traffic congestion; enhancing the exploitation and use of data from vehicle tracking devices to inspect and handle violations. Continuing to review and handle "black spots", potential traffic accident spots, and handling traffic organization problems on the road system to improve safety conditions for people and vehicles participating in traffic. Strengthening patrols and controls to ensure traffic order and safety, especially during the April 30 - May 1 holidays...
