Focus on solutions to attract tourists
According to a recent report by the People's Committee of Kien Giang province on the province's tourism industry, in the first 11 months of 2023, it is estimated to welcome more than 8 million visitors, reaching 97.2% of the plan and increasing by 17% over the same period. Of which, international visitors are 538,600, increasing by 53.9% of the plan and increasing by 217.1% over the same period... Although domestic visitors to Phu Quoc have had sharp declines at times, such as the April 30 - May 1 or September 2 holidays, the total number of international visitors for the whole year of 2023 still increased sharply and brought Kien Giang's total tourism revenue to an estimated VND 17,500 billion, up 65.1% over the same period.
A new resort is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2023 on Hon Son Island, Kien Hai District, Kien Giang.
To achieve the above tourism results, Kien Giang Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center (KITRA) has organized many delegations of travel businesses to introduce and promote the potential, strengths and tourism resources of Kien Giang to domestic and international tourists. In particular, KITRA has actively coordinated with the tourism industry, localities in the Mekong Delta and businesses to organize many seminars, surveys, link to build product services, build tourism stimulus programs with provinces and cities across the country and abroad.
Specifically, KITRA has organized booths to display and introduce Kien Giang tourism at tourism fairs and exhibitions; organized conferences to promote and advertise Mekong Delta tourism in key markets such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Lao Cai; organized to welcome foreign farmtrip delegations to survey Phu Quoc tourism products; organized farmtrip delegations from Mekong Delta to survey Kien Hai products and services... Thereby, many memorandums of understanding have been signed between Kien Giang tourism units and enterprises with partners in promoting tour connection and exploiting local tourism products.

In addition, KITRA has increased promotional activities to increase the number of existing passengers for flights; coordinated with airlines to open new routes to Phu Quoc. "Currently, we are connecting with airlines and service providers to build many attractive and quality travel combos from air tickets to accommodation, dining, etc. at reasonable prices so that visitors can rest assured when coming to Phu Quoc for entertainment and relaxation; updated information on entertainment, dining, accommodation, sightseeing, transportation, etc. by QR code for visitors to easily update. We also call on all businesses to proactively improve service quality and innovate tourism products to better serve visitors," added Ms. Quang Xuan Lua, Director of KITRA.
According to KITRA, from now until March 2024, there will be one flight from Kazakhstan to Phu Quoc every day, with an average of about 200 passengers per flight. This is a positive sign, promising to bring an explosion in international tourists, especially from Eastern European and Central Asian countries, to Phu Quoc to enjoy the year-end festival season and welcome the new year 2024.

Strengthening the call for and attracting tourism investment
KITRA said that since 2016, Kien Giang province has called for investment in many tourism development projects: Hon Dat - Hon Me - Hon Queo historical, cultural and scenic relic site (Dat district); Ba Lua archipelago tourist area (Kien Luong district).
