From childhood business sense...

Mrs. Tran Kieu (Ms. Huynh My's mother) proudly said: "Previously, the family owned a grocery store in Ta An Khuong Nam commune, so My knew how to calculate and do business when she was in 4th or 5th grade. Sometimes my husband and I went on business trips, while My stayed home to "manage" 4-5 employees; knew how to check prescriptions, replenish goods... On days when I fried banana cakes, made coconut cakes... and couldn't sell them all, she would take her bike and go around the neighborhood to sell them all."

When she was in high school, My went to town to study, walked around the shops, and wherever there was something interesting and sellable, she "bought" it all for her mother to sell in the commune, from shaken mango, pickled fruit, to tapes, discs, books, newspapers... toys, entertainment, beauty products...

...To establish own brand

After studying at a pharmacy college, working, getting married, and becoming a mother, Ms. My did not stay still. She took advantage of social networks to sell products that she experienced and created herself. Those were turmeric starch and turmeric honey. In 2014-2015, online sales were still quite new, Ms. My was considered one of the successful people in this field.

In 2016, at the age of 26, Huynh My created her own exclusive brand.

“Because I am a mother, I understand better than anyone about health and beauty recovery and women need to earn money to cover expenses. Based on my existing knowledge, I bought turmeric from people all over the province and paid all my relatives, family members, and neighbors to make beauty products from turmeric (turmeric powder, sliced turmeric soaked in honey, buried turmeric honey...) to sell online. Gradually, the daily orders increased, I invested in machinery to replace manual labor, recruited wholesale and retail branches nationwide... The brand "Huynh My Cosmetic" was officially recognized as a quality product in 2016 and is the leading product in the Southwest region in the field of distributing handmade cosmetics with ingredients of natural origin. I was even more honored and proud when, in early 2017, I met Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh at a meeting of businesses and entrepreneurs participating in supporting victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in Hanoi," she said.

From her business ideas, Ms. Huynh My created jobs for her relatives and many local workers with stable income.

Desire to "pass on the torch" to young people

Sharing about this, Ms. My confided: “Beauty, success, and happiness all depend on yourself, your intelligence, and your strength. Therefore, never stop learning, never stop trying, opportunities are always ahead.”

She said: “The biggest revenue for the time when natural cosmetics were popular was several hundred million VND/year; the products were also registered with barcodes, inspected, and evaluated by consumers... However, as market competition grew, my products gradually “cooled down”. Ms. My sought new opportunities through just a photo posted on Facebook.

“My younger brother got married. Instead of ordering, I made all the trays myself, including the dragon and phoenix trays. I took pictures to show off on Facebook for fun, but someone “inboxed” me to order, and I accepted right away. From one wedding, after nearly 4 years, the number has increased to several hundred, from all over the province and beyond,” My shared.

Without going to professional school, but with passion and skill, each month, Ms. Huynh My makes dozens of wedding trays; during the season, the number increases exponentially.

Making a wedding tray requires a wedding car service, having a car requires a garage..., and so "Huynh My Garage" was born.

What Ms. My is most passionate about in the profession of making wedding trays is being able to bring the "countryside soul" into modern wedding ceremonies, through preserving the traditional beauty of dragon and phoenix trays, betel trays, wine trays... In the near future, she will undertake making wedding gates, family altars... both following current trends and traditional customs. As for the "countryside sweet soup" shop, she is about to launch it with the participation of many types of sweet soup in Vietnamese culinary culture.

“I don’t dare say that I am teaching or passing on a profession, but if any young people are interested, they can come and I am willing to share what I have accumulated. I hope you will have enough confidence and strength to do what you want,” Ms. Huynh My said./.
