The Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Lebanon recommends that citizens leave Lebanon as soon as possible while airports and commercial flights are still operating.
According to a VNA correspondent in Cairo, on August 8, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Lebanon issued an urgent notice advising Vietnamese citizens currently in Lebanon to leave the country as soon as possible, in the context of the continuing deterioration of the regional security situation, especially the dangerous escalation of tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
In an urgent announcement, the Embassy advised Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Lebanon at this time, and also asked Vietnamese citizens living in Lebanon to avoid going near the Lebanon-Israel border and the area south of the capital Beirut or to leave Lebanon as soon as possible while airports and commercial flights are still operating.
The Embassy recommends that Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon regularly follow and update news on international and local media.
In case of force majeure and being unable to leave Lebanon, people should find temporary shelter in safer areas and have a plan to stock up on food and medicine in case they cannot go out for many days.
Since tensions between Israel and Hezbollah began to erupt in October 2023, the Embassy has been in regular contact with Vietnamese citizens in Lebanon and has learned that their lives have not been affected.
There are currently 11 Vietnamese citizens living and studying in Lebanon, mainly in the capital Beirut and neighboring areas.
According to the Embassy, some people are currently eager to return home due to concerns about the security situation in Lebanon, but they cannot buy plane tickets because some airlines have stopped or canceled flights.
The Embassy continues to monitor and stay in contact with our compatriots to prepare contingency plans in case of dangerous escalation or emergency situations.
The Embassy is also ready to coordinate with relevant agencies in case of need to evacuate or protect citizens from Lebanon.
In case of needing assistance, the Embassy recommends that people immediately contact the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt and Lebanon via hotline: +20 102 613 9869, or the Honorary Consulate Office of Vietnam in Lebanon: +961 70 229 300 in case of needing assistance.
