Do not organize crowded Mid-Autumn Festival in flood areas

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requests that the Mid-Autumn Festival not be organized in an ostentatious or formal manner, especially absolutely not to organize events that gather large crowds and are unsafe in areas affected by natural disasters and floods.

On the morning of September 12, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities on organizing the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2024, prioritizing the reading of the letter from the General Secretary and President to children, giving gifts to disadvantaged children, and prioritizing online organization.

According to the content of the dispatch, in the context that many provinces and cities in the Northern region are focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to pay attention to and take care of organizing Mid-Autumn Festival activities in 2024 for children in a suitable manner on the basis of ensuring safety, thrift, substance, without ostentation or formality, especially in areas affected by storm No. 3 and floods and natural disasters after the storm.

In particular, absolutely do not organize events that gather a large number of children and people, which are unsafe at the event location and on the way due to the impact of natural disasters and floods; instead, it can be organized online, on television and gifts can be sent to the children (if possible).

Mid-Autumn Festival programs, activities, events and festivals need to be shortened and reduce the number of performances. Key content: reading the letter from the General Secretary and President to children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024; giving priority to giving Mid-Autumn gifts to children in special circumstances, children from poor households, near-poor households, children in ethnic minority areas, remote areas, border areas, islands, orphans and children affected by natural disasters, storms and floods.

On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2024, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs encourages the strengthening of education on the spirit of solidarity, mutual love, and "helping each other" for children; providing information and updating the impact of storms and floods in localities, mobilizing sharing, donations, and support from children, families, and communities so that children affected by storms and floods can soon return to school and stabilize their lives.
