On January 18, Lao Cai Provincial Police informed that Captain Bui Van Duc, Deputy Chief of Police of Tong Sanh Commune, Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province, died while on duty.

Previously, implementing the direction of the Director of Lao Cai Provincial Police, the plan of Bat Xat District Police on strengthening propaganda to collect weapons, explosives, support tools and the peak plan to attack and suppress crime, Tong Sanh Commune Police launched a campaign and achieved many important results.

On the afternoon of January 17, the Tong Sanh Commune Police Working Group, consisting of 4 people led by Captain Bui Van Duc, Deputy Chief of the Commune Police, conducted propaganda and mobilized the surrender of weapons, explosives, support tools and fireworks at the homes of Mr. Hoang Thong Sai (born in 1969) and Mr. Hoang Lao Kieu (born in 1984), both residing in Seo Tong Sanh village.

As a result, Mr. Kieu's family voluntarily handed over 1 flintlock gun and 1 flintlock barrel.

At around 2:30 p.m. the same day, at the shack used to look after Mr. Sai's family's fields, the Working Group continued to discover a flintlock gun hidden in the bushes near the shack. Captain Bui Van Duc directly seized the gun but did not know that there were bullets inside. Due to negligence, the gun went off, injuring him in the abdomen and chest.

Immediately after the incident, Captain Bui Van Duc was taken to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital and Hospital 198 of the Ministry of Public Security for emergency treatment. However, Captain Duc died at 9:50 p.m. the same day.

Currently, Lao Cai Provincial Police, Tong Sanh District and Commune, along with departments, branches and organizations, are focusing on taking care of Captain Duc's funeral.
