On the afternoon of December 31, in Hanoi, the Central Internal Affairs Committee held a conference to review the work of the Party Internal Affairs sector and the activities of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness and Negativity in 2024; directions and tasks for 2025. The conference was held in person and online at provincial-level bridges.

Comrade Phan Dinh Trac, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Prevention of Corruption, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, and other Deputy Heads of the Central Internal Affairs Commission chaired the conference.

Comrade Tran Duc Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Crime chaired the conference at Hai Duong bridge. At the conference, comrade Vo Van Dung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee, presented a summary report summarizing the work of the Party Internal Affairs sector and the activities of the Provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Prevention in 2024.

In 2024, the Party Internal Affairs sector has researched and advised the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Provincial and Municipal Party Committees to review, summarize, issue new policies and effectively implement many important policies and regulations on internal affairs, anti-corruption and judicial reform. In particular, it has proposed that the Steering Committee have policies and coordinate with competent agencies to advise the Politburo to issue regulations on controlling power in the field of law-making; regulations on controlling power in the management and use of public finance and assets.

In 2024, the Steering Committees of localities conducted 231 inspections and supervisions. Party committees and inspection committees at all levels disciplined 949 party organizations and 4,372 party members for corruption and negative acts; dismissed and dismissed 362 officials; through inspection work, functional agencies recommended handling the responsibilities of nearly 3,000 collectives and 11,000 individuals...

Provincial Steering Committees have decided to put 155 corruption and negative cases under monitoring and direction; and directed local prosecution agencies to initiate 848 new cases with 1,884 defendants for corruption crimes. Many localities have also prosecuted and investigated officials under the management of provincial and municipal Party Committees.

Along with promoting the work of detecting and handling corruption and negativity, the provincial Steering Committees have also paid attention to leading and directing the improvement of the effectiveness of preventive solutions, and paid attention to directing the correction and handling of the situation of evasion, fear of responsibility, and reluctance to act among cadres, civil servants, and public employees, and the situation of harassment and causing trouble for people and businesses.

Speaking at the conference, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that 2024, despite many difficulties and challenges, has achieved many important achievements in the socio-economic, security, defense, and foreign affairs situations. Internal affairs, anti-corruption, waste, and negativity work have been implemented strongly, resolutely, continuously, without rest, without any forbidden areas, without exceptions. The trust and consensus of cadres, party members, and people in the Party, the State, and the regime continue to be consolidated and strengthened.

The General Secretary affirmed that the important role of the Party's Internal Affairs sector at all levels and the Steering Committees of the Central and provincial levels in contributing to that result is important. The position and role of the Party's Internal Affairs sector and the provincial Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Prevention are increasingly affirmed.

The General Secretary emphasized that 2025 is of great significance, deciding the success of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress and preparing for Party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress. The General Secretary said that, with its position and role as a strategic advisory body, the "eyes and ears" of the Party, the Internal Affairs sector needs to continue advising the Party to lead and direct the promotion of the work of preventing and combating corruption and waste. Resolutely not allowing degraded, corrupt, wasteful, negative cadres, and those who have made dishonest asset declarations to enter the new Party Committee...

The Internal Affairs Sector and Steering Committees at all levels continue to improve the effectiveness of research and propose the Party's viewpoints and policies on internal affairs, anti-corruption and judicial reform; focus on research, advice, proposals, completion and improvement of the quality of draft documents for Party congresses at all levels and Party congresses.

The General Secretary requested the Party Internal Affairs sector to focus on advising, directing, implementing, and drastically creating a strong change and breakthrough in the work of preventing and combating waste in the whole society. Identifying that preventing and combating waste is an urgent, priority task, to be done immediately, in the immediate future, reviewing backlogged and slow-progressing projects and works that cause great loss and waste... there must definitely be an address to handle it, and someone responsible for this.

Advise, direct, strengthen inspection, supervision, and examination of fields, localities, and cadres at all levels with public information on corruption, waste, and negativity; investigate and thoroughly handle serious, complicated corruption, waste, and negativity cases and incidents that are of public concern, especially projects related to personnel at all levels.

General Secretary To Lam also requested to direct the further improvement of the effectiveness of solutions to prevent corruption, waste, and negativity with the motto of preventing early and from afar, not allowing small violations to accumulate into major violations. In particular, the Internal Affairs sector needs to urgently review and streamline the apparatus in accordance with the plan to summarize Resolution No. 18 of the Central Steering Committee; build a team of Internal Affairs cadres to prevent corruption, waste, and negativity that are truly brave, "diligent, thrifty, honest, impartial, and selfless"...
