Vietnamese students are being given the opportunity to access robotics skills early.
Following the success of the program "A Year of Robotics 2023", the non-profit organization STEAM for Vietnam (USA), the US Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam and Hanoi University of Science and Technology continue to organize the program "A Year of Robotics 2024".
Previously, in May, for the first time, 19 Vietnamese robotics teams participated in the VEX IQ category at the world's largest robotics championship, the VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 in Texas (USA). Vietnam ranked 5th in the world in terms of the largest number of international teams and won 5 important awards on this occasion.
The "A Year of Robotics 2024" program not only aims to provide free education in modern robotics for Vietnamese students, bringing Vietnamese talents to compete in international arenas, but also fully equips domestic teachers with knowledge in this field.
To date, a total of more than 2,000 students, 500 teachers and 150 schools have had the opportunity to learn and train in robotics for free through the CS 201: Introduction to Robotics Programming course with VEX IQ.
To help Vietnamese students develop important skills for the future and be competitive in the global market, STEAM for Vietnam decided to teach VEX IQ Robotics, the most modern educational robotics kit in the US.
In addition, after the success of the robotics training program with VEX IQ for students from elementary to high school, in a few months, the relevant parties will organize the CS 202 training program: Introduction to robotics programming with VEX V5 for high school students nationwide.
In July, the VEX Robotics National Championship 2024 will officially open applications and the first round of competition will start in September. The VEX Robotics National Championship 2024 has 2 competition categories: VIQRC category using VEX IQ robots for primary and secondary school students (under 15 years old) and VRC category using VEX V5 robots for high school students (under 19 years old).
Through this competition, STEAM for Vietnam, the American Centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and partners plan to select 40 Vietnamese teams in the two categories VIQRC and VRC. The selected teams will participate in the VEX Robotics World Championship 2024 in Texas.
