Vietnamese students are being given the opportunity to access robotics skills from an early age.
Following the success of the "A Year of Robotics 2023" program, the non-profit organization STEAM for Vietnam (USA), the US Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam, and Hanoi University of Science and Technology are continuing to organize the "A Year of Robotics 2024" program.
Earlier in May, for the first time, 19 Vietnamese robotics teams participated in the VEX IQ category at the VEX Robotics World Championship 2023 in Texas (USA), the world's largest robotics championship. Vietnam ranked 5th in the world for the largest number of international teams and won 5 important awards at this event.
The "A Year of Robotics 2024" program aims not only to provide free education in modern robotics to Vietnamese students and enable Vietnamese talents to compete internationally, but also to equip domestic teachers with comprehensive knowledge in this field.
To date, a total of over 2,000 students, 500 teachers, and 150 schools have had the opportunity to learn and receive free robotics training through the CS 201 course: Introduction to Robotics Programming with VEX IQ.
To help Vietnamese students develop essential skills for the future and become competitive in the global market, STEAM for Vietnam has decided to teach using the VEX IQ Robotics kit, the most advanced educational robotics component kit in the United States.
In addition, following the success of the robotics training program with VEX IQ for students from elementary to high school, in a few months, the relevant parties will organize the CS 202 training program: Introduction to Robotics Programming with VEX V5 for high school students nationwide.
In July, the VEX National Robotics Championship 2024 will officially open for registration, and the first round will start in September. The VEX National Robotics Championship 2024 has two competition categories: the VIQRC category using VEX IQ robots for elementary and secondary school students (under 15 years old) and the VRC category using VEX V5 robots for high school students (under 19 years old).
Through this competition, STEAM for Vietnam, the US Center in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and partners plan to select 40 Vietnamese teams in the VIQRC and VRC categories. The selected teams will participate in the VEX Robotics World Championship 2024 in Texas.
