This is one of the specific goals stated in the resolution on strengthening leadership and direction to complete the key project of relocating Binh Hung Hoa cemetery issued by Binh Tan District Party Committee in early November 2023.
The Binh Hung Hoa cemetery relocation project, covering an area of 40.7 hectares, has been implemented since 2010, divided into 3 phases to relocate about 54,000 graves to improve urban areas, ensure environmental sanitation, and resolve insecurity and disorder. To date, there are 23,730 graves that have not been exhumed, of which about 12,986 have not been visited or declared by relatives.
Previously, there was a plan to build a commercial service complex, but Binh Tan District Party Committee assessed that this was no longer suitable, and that investing in schools and public works was an urgent need and created high consensus among the people.
Binh Tan District aims to complete the exhumation of all graves at Binh Hung Hoa cemetery by 2025.
Regarding specific goals, Binh Tan District plans to complete the planning adjustment orientation for Binh Hung Hoa cemetery area before December 15 this year. Phase 1 of centralized grave excavation will be completed before April 2024 and the entire project will be completed in 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project to build a house to store ashes to serve the centralized grave excavation work will be held in September 2024.
For the infrastructure investment project, schools, and green parks within the cemetery, Binh Tan District aims to complete approval procedures, select contractors, and start construction before April 30, 2025, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
This project was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in July 2023, implemented on a land area of over 17 hectares, including the following items: construction of a new secondary school, leveling the ground, making roads, water supply and drainage, electricity system, lighting, and planting trees. The total investment of the project is nearly 1,500 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget, implemented in the period of 2023 - 2026.
Next, the locality will continue to invest in the construction of large-scale public works and concentrated green parks according to the approved planning orientation, to be completed in 2027.
One of the key tasks of the People's Committee of Binh Tan District is to complete the centralized exhumation work at Binh Hung Hoa cemetery for 1,876 graves without relatives visiting or declaring in phase 1 (12 hectares) before April 2024. At the same time, strengthen the work of reviewing and counting the remaining number of graves in phase 2 and phase 3 to continue coordinating propaganda and implementing the centralized exhumation work to complete the entire project in 2025.
