The Cao Lanh - An Huu expressway, 27 km long, passes through Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces , with a total cost of over 5,880 billion VND, and construction commenced on the morning of June 25th.
Along its entire length, the section passing through Dong Thap province is over 16 km, with the remainder in Tien Giang province. The project starts at the intersection with the My An - Cao Lanh expressway in Cao Lanh district (Dong Thap province) and ends at the connection with the Central - My Thuan expressway in Cai Be district (Tien Giang province).

The second north-south expressway in the Western region is nearly 25 meters wide, with 4 lanes and a speed limit of 100 km/h; the first phase will widen it to 17 meters, with 4 lanes and a speed limit of 80 km/h, expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the expressway will meet transportation needs along the northern bank of the Tien River, helping to alleviate congestion on the existing National Highway 30.
The project also connects the eastern North-South Expressway along the vertical axis, including: Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan - Can Tho - Ca Mau. In the west, the connecting route to the North-South Expressway is under construction, including: Ho Chi Minh Road - My An - Cao Lan - Lo Te - Rach Soi.

According to Pham Thien Nghia, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province, the province identifies transportation infrastructure as a driving force and a prerequisite for socio-economic development. Key projects in recent years have proven highly effective, helping the locality connect three major centers: Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Phnom Penh (Cambodia).
Last week, the first north-south expressway in the Mekong Delta, the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, spanning over 188 km and passing through four provinces and cities (An Giang, Soc Trang, Can Tho, and Hau Giang), with a total investment of nearly 44,700 billion VND, commenced construction.
