Sharing at the workshop, Dr. Patricia Ribeiro, Director of the Oriental Portuguese Institute, said that the establishment of the Portuguese language department plays an important role, not only in academia but also in affirming the position of a global language.
"The ability to speak a new language is always linked to the acquisition of a new culture.
These relationships create understanding and empathy - which is essential in "commerce" which here does not only mean commercial exchange, but also includes all transactions, interactions between people, academically, emotionally, formed through learning a language.
Accordingly, the Oriental Portuguese Institute has been promoting the connection between diverse peoples and cultures, through the development of learning tools, making learning Portuguese easier in many countries, including Vietnam," said Dr. Patricia Ribeiro.
