| Vietnam Export Promotion Forum 2022: Promoting green exports for the business community Green economy creates momentum for export development |
This year's export promotion forum is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in coordination with projects supported by the Swiss Government. It is expected to have the participation and direction of Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai and more than 300 delegates who are leaders of ministries, sectors, localities, embassies, international organizations in Vietnam, associations and businesses.
The Export Promotion Forum is organized annually by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (Department of Trade Promotion). This year's forum will be divided into two sessions:
Session 1 - Promoting green exports, sustainable development - international practices and recommendations for Vietnam. In this session, speakers are experts from international organizations presenting their papers on green transformation trends in international trade, such as: Direct impacts on exports in the context of CBAM implementation; circular economy and enterprise appraisal in the value chain - important policies of the EU, Germany and proposed support activities for Vietnam's export industries; the role and responsibility of TPOs and BSOs in promoting green exports.

Session 2 - Green transformation in Vietnam's export promotion ecosystem. In this session, domestic experts presented papers related to: Mechanisms and policies to promote green industry and trade in Vietnam; introduction to Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory and Calculation, overview of carbon certification; role and responsibility of enterprises in green transformation (some key industries in Vietnam).
Green production, green export, green growth are contemporary economic development issues that have been frequently mentioned recently. Therefore, the information exchanged at the Forum is not only useful for Vietnamese enterprises to build and develop production and business strategies to meet market requirements and trends, but also suggests many directions and solutions for central and local state management agencies, industry associations in promoting carbon neutrality initiatives, circular economy, and improving the ability to provide support activities for the business community towards the sustainability of the supply chain in the coming time.
The highest priority is to successfully implement the goals set out in the National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The green development trend has been forming new rules of the game in trade and investment. Many developed economies in the world have set stricter environmental regulations on imported goods such as the European Green Growth Policy, the European Green Deal, along with program mechanisms such as: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism; Farm-to-Fork Strategy; Circular Economy Action Plan or Biodiversity Strategy to 2030...
Therefore, in order not to be eliminated from the game by the high environmental and social standards set by import markets, exporting countries need to change their mindset, pay attention to the "greenness" of the supply chain, in international trade to meet the strict technical requirements of the market.
Vietnam is one of the countries with strong environmental commitments at the Climate Change Summit (COP26), including a commitment to pioneer the energy transition, along with green transition and digital transformation. With a commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. This is a task that is both a trend of the times and extremely necessary for Vietnam in the process of economic integration and development.
