Thus, the final section of the above gas pipeline was completed 7 months ahead of schedule.
The 5,111 km long Russia-China Eastern Gas Pipeline runs from Heihe City, Heilongjiang Province to Shanghai, passing through nine provinces and cities of China.
After completion of the entire route, 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be stably supplied annually to the three eastern provinces, the Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei regions and the Yangtze River Delta.
According to THX , this is the third long cross-border gas pipeline supplying fuel to the country of one billion people, after the Central Asia and China-Myanmar pipelines.
China Central Television (CCTV) also said that natural gas from the birch country is expected to be supplied to households in Shanghai by the end of this year.
It is a flagship project aimed at strengthening economic ties between the world's second-largest economy and its resource-rich neighbor.
The pipeline will ensure “a stable supply of gas” to 130 million households each year.
"The project, which is touted as having the world's largest single-pipe capacity, will make important contributions to optimizing China's energy consumption structure, promoting green transformation and helping achieve dual-carbon targets," CCTV reported.
Beijing aims to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060.
