Born in a poor rural area in the West, artist Cao Minh chose revolutionary and folk music, especially songs about Uncle Ho. Cao Minh admitted that he had a passion for this music since he started practicing singing.
Sharing with VTC News reporter, Cao Minh said that winning many noble awards since he was a student always made him very proud.
"At that time, I promised myself that I would continue to learn, research and practice to become a professional singer, specializing in singing revolutionary and folk music.
I used to work for a while in the Bong Sen troupe, then separated and joined the Au Co music and dance troupe. After a while, I became a freelance singer, and it was thanks to the awards that helped me become more known to many people," he said.
According to Cao Minh, every time he performs revolutionary songs, songs written about Uncle Ho and the country, it brings him indescribable emotions.
Cao Minh always keeps the habit of waking up early to practice, so that each song he sings will convey to the listener the dreams, desires, and pride that the musician wants to convey in the songs.
"Revolutionary music always shows the heroic spirit of our army and people, the pride of the nation, and the hope for life. Folk songs will nourish people's souls, helping them love and be more attached to their homeland.
For me, revolution is the main music genre that has been around for years and is loved by the people. Listening to this music a lot will help us have more faith, will and optimism in life.
Folk music will nourish the human soul, helping us love our homeland and country more.
I am proud to be the only person to win the award for "Best Singer on Ho Chi Minh's Theme". Wherever I am, my love for my homeland, country and Uncle Ho remains unchanged," he confided.
Meritorious Artist Cao Minh has a burning passion for revolutionary music.
Becoming famous early with major awards in revolutionary music, however, Cao Minh believes that this is not luck. He himself had to try and make a lot of effort with this music genre.
"I was born in a poor countryside, where many people have a passion for art but never dare to dream. I see myself as a daredevil rather than lucky to have dared to enter this door.
My teacher once said I was "a country bumpkin who came to the city", when he discovered my singing voice, I decided to take the entrance exam to the Conservatory of Music and changed my life.
I had to study for 9 years before I could step on stage. During this time, there were times when I wanted to sing but I didn't allow myself to step on stage. I wanted to be worthy of being on stage as a singer," he said.
At the age of 63, Meritorious Artist Cao Minh still regularly participates in major programs, pursues new milestones in art and does eco-tourism.
The thing that the male artist is most passionate about is building his own theater to satisfy his passion for art. He also designs his own projects because of his passion for architecture.
Cao Minh confided that he carried out this idea with the desire to bring people interesting experiences and enjoy real music.
Meritorious Artist Cao Minh is still passionate about singing and teaching music at the age of over 60.
"To me, an artist is someone who has experienced many jobs, not someone who is flashy. I don't use music to make myself famous, I just want art to develop properly," he said.
