Inauguration of a school for children in mountainous areas of Phu Yen

Phu Yen Nguyen Xuan School, Son Hoa District, includes a classroom with a private bathroom, inaugurated on the morning of August 28, welcoming more than 30 students to the new school year.

This school belongs to Son Nguyen Kindergarten, Son Nguyen Commune, about 10 km from the center of Son Hoa District. The old building had been degraded after more than 20 years of construction. Although it was repaired, the damage still recurred, especially during the rainy season, causing anxiety for teachers and 31 students studying at the school.

After more than 3 months of construction, the newly completed project includes a standard classroom with a private bathroom, a functional room, a playground, a fence and a gate. The total cost of the project is about 1.2 billion VND, of which the Hope Fund and FPT Corporation sponsored nearly 1 billion VND with the cooperation of VnExpress readers and the corporation's staff, the rest is matched by the locality.

Ms. Vo Thi Nguyet Thu, Principal of Son Nguyen Kindergarten, said: "This is a long-standing wish of the teachers and students of the school. We are even more excited that the project was implemented quickly, helping teachers and students have a new school right before the opening ceremony."

Mr. Nguyen Dinh An, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Hoa district, said that the locality is a mountainous district with many economic difficulties. In recent times, authorities at all levels have paid attention to and supported the construction of infrastructure, but some places are still facing difficulties.

"The support from the Hope Fund and FPT Group to build a new school helps teachers and students feel secure in teaching and studying. This contribution has made a practical contribution to the implementation of social security policies in the district," said Mr. An.

At the ceremony, Mr. Bui Quang Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation, Member of the Board of Management of the Hope Fund shared that investing in people and education is the most sustainable and long-term development. "The first place that FPT chose to build a happy school is Nguyen Xuan school, with the joint efforts of staff and the community. The new school will be a new starting point for FPT's journey of bringing love and creating happiness to the community."

Also at the inauguration ceremony, representatives of the Hope Fund, FPT Software and FPT Telecom presented the school with some learning equipment such as televisions, speakers, desks, chairs, cabinets and 110 gifts for the students. With a total value of 35 million VND, these are gifts from the contributions of FPT staff through the one-day salary program. Previously, the group's staff joined hands to build Nguyen Xuan school through the activity of buying Historical Records to celebrate the 35th anniversary of FPT's establishment.

This school is one of the projects under the "School Light" program implemented by the Hope Fund since 2018. To date, more than 130 schools have been newly built or repaired in Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Son La, Dien Bien, Lang Son, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Binh Phuoc... contributing to improving learning conditions for tens of thousands of students and teachers.
