The Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province has just issued instructions on not organizing enrollment for classes implementing the French bilingual program from the 2024-2025 school year.

Switch to learning French as a foreign language 1

Specifically, for Nguyen Van Troi High School, the 2024-2025 school year will not organize admission to grade 10 under the French bilingual program.

All students eligible for admission to grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year (French bilingual and French intensive programs) will be placed in French as a foreign language 1 classes according to the 2018 general education program.

For Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School, it is recommended that the Department of Education and Training of Nha Trang City direct the school not to enroll students in the 6th grade French bilingual program in the 2024-2025 school year.

All students eligible for admission to grade 6 in the 2024-2025 school year (French bilingual program) will be placed in French as a foreign language 1 classes according to the 2018 general education program.

From the 2025-2026 school year, the department will provide specific instructions on admission to grades 6 and 10 for students wishing to enroll in French as a foreign language 1 classes according to the 2018 general education program.

Study old French textbooks but follow the new program

Mr. Do Huu Quynh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province - said that according to the official dispatch of the Ministry of Education and Training, from the 2024 - 2025 school year, there will be no enrollment in the French bilingual program.

However, the enrollment for grade 10 and grade 6 has been almost completed, while the ministry has just issued a document, so students entering Nguyen Van Troi High School and Tran Quoc Toan Middle School must study French as a first foreign language.

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, the French bilingual program is that from grade 1, students studying French bilingually are trained in four skills: reading - understanding, listening, speaking and writing in French.

In addition to studying French, 4th and 5th graders also study math and science in French; middle and high school students study math in French...

As for the general education program for foreign language 1, students only study French.

According to Ms. Dang Ngoc Le Thy - Head of Quality Management Department of Khanh Hoa Province Department of Education and Training, students studying French as a foreign language class 1 will follow Circular No. 19 of the Ministry of Education and Training.

However, currently there are no textbooks for French at junior high and high school levels, so textbooks from the 2006 program will be used as teaching materials for the 2018 general education program framework and must ensure knowledge and output standards.

Currently, Khanh Hoa province has three schools in Nha Trang city that organize French bilingual programs: Xuong Huan 1 Primary School, Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School and Nguyen Van Troi High School.
