"Even though I couldn't play, I'm still very proud of my teammates. If I felt sad because I couldn't play, I wouldn't be here. Seeing my teammates play, I have more motivation to try harder," center back Chuong Thi Kieu affirmed after cheering on the Vietnamese women's team in the final against Myanmar from the stands.
Center back Chuong Thi Kieu did not recover from her knee injury in time to play in the 32nd SEA Games. Coach Mai Duc Chung waited until the last minute for the player born in 1995, but did not have time to add her name to the tournament roster.

At the 32nd SEA Games, Chuong Thi Kieu no longer plays on the field and commands the defense like in previous tournaments, but cheers for her teammates from afar. Sharing with Thanh Nien , the player of the Ho Chi Minh City team regrets that the stands are too large, so the cheers cannot be heard far.
"I feel a bit sorry for myself for not being able to enter the field. This is the first time since 2011, after a period of eating at the national team's dinner, that I have been able to be in the stands to cheer for the team. The stands are a bit loud so my voice cannot be heard. If the field was close like in the Philippines (where the Vietnamese women's team participated in the 32nd SEA Games), my voice would be overwhelming," Chuong Thi Kieu humorously shared.
Chuong Thi Kieu said she aims to return to compete in the 2023 World Cup finals, taking place next July in Australia and New Zealand.
"I am very happy and hope the Vietnamese women's team will win more gold medals. My goal in the World Cup finals is to try to recover as soon as possible to participate in this playground," emphasized Chuong Thi Kieu.
