Video: Biological indicator lake system, ecological lake at Formosa Ha Tinh
Along with production and business, in recent years, Formosa Ha Tinh has focused many resources on environmental protection, landscape construction, and natural ecosystems in the factory area. To date, the total investment for environmental protection works of the factory is about 1.4 billion USD.
The ecological lake system and biological indicator lake are one of the particularly important items in the factory's wastewater treatment. Domestic and industrial wastewater after being treated, ensuring the safety standards of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, continues to be circulated to 4 other filter lakes. These lakes are used by the company to grow plants such as: mangrove, cajuput, parrot and raise fish and ducks.
After a period of planting and care, up to now, the 4 treated water reservoirs of the factory, trees have grown green, covering the lake surface. Seen from above, the 4 reservoirs look like a mangrove forest, with a vast green color of mangrove, cajuput, cajuput...
In the green layers, fish such as tilapia, carp, grass carp, koi... grow and develop; on the water surface, ducks, geese, and swans live, creating a unique ecological community. With the strong and safe growth and development of plants and animals in the ecological lakes, the quality of the factory's wastewater can be somewhat verified before being discharged into the environment.
It is known that the monitoring data of the emission and wastewater monitoring system at the factory are automatically and continuously transmitted directly to the state management agency for monitoring. Up to now, the water and emissions discharged from the factory into the environment are guaranteed to meet the standards permitted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
In addition, Formosa Ha Tinh also built regulating lakes with an area of tens of hectares. With a system of green trees growing and developing strongly along with the strict protection of the factory in prohibiting hunting, the regulating lake has become a safe haven for many species of birds.
In recent weeks, tens of thousands of storks have come to roost in the factory’s lake, roosting in the white casuarina trees along the lake. Below, hundreds of ducks swim, creating a very interesting scene.
Many areas of the regulating lake are also covered with lotus flowers. Every season, the lotus flowers bloom, spreading their fragrance, creating a poetic space in the factory grounds. Photo: Document.
It can be said that with the spirit of effort and high responsibility in environmental protection, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Plant is becoming an environmentally friendly place, a diverse, unique and interesting ecosystem.
