On April 19, the National Library of Vietnam held the opening ceremony of activities to celebrate the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025. This is not only a meaningful cultural event, but also an opportunity for us to look back on the development journey of reading culture - a sustainable fundamental value that contributes to the development of people and society in the new era.

In his opening speech, Director of the National Library of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Dung said that in every country and every civilization, books have always been the quietest but most enduring companion of humans. From ancient handwritten pages to digital reading platforms, electronic library systems, and smart reading support tools, books have carried the memories of time, the dreams of humanity, and the constant aspiration to reach knowledge. And in that, our Vietnam - a nation that loves learning and values ​​words - has written many proud chapters in this journey of preservation and dissemination. A nation with the habit of reading is a nation with depth. And a young generation that loves to read, knows how to choose books, and loves learning will be a solid foundation for the country's sustainable development.

The theme of today's Festival "Every page, a pride" is not just a slogan. It is an affirmation that knowledge is an indispensable part of national identity. Every page turned, every book given, will inspire a soul, awaken a mind, and begin a new journey of discovery.

 

Responding to the theme "Entering the era of national growth with books", "Reading culture - Connecting the community", "Reading books - enriching knowledge, nurturing aspirations, promoting innovation and creativity" of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at the same time aiming at the great celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

The National Library of Vietnam wishes to convey the message "Read - Think - Act - Spread" through a series of profound, creative and humanistic activities.

Within the framework of the activities is the Documentary Exhibition "The Great Victory of Spring 1975 through the pages of books" with the transmission of vivid visual content and digital interaction bringing a new approach.

 

At the Exhibition space, delegates and visitors have the opportunity to access original, unique documents that are currently being preserved and preserved in 02 forms. Visual display: with the transmission of vivid visual content that brings visual effects on spatial layout, depth and perspective; Digital document projection and Digital interactive display: bringing new ways to explore books, newspapers and databases. Integrated technology connects traditional reading culture with modern trends, creating a creative and attractive experience space.

In addition, the experiential activities "Journey following the footsteps" or "Memory book - Soldier's story" contribute to bridging emotions between the past and the present.

Discussions and exchanges with authors and works, with 02 typical works of the People's Army Publishing House: "Red Rain" by writer Chu Lai and "In the Whirlwind" by writer Khuat Quang Thuy. Through the content of the 02 works and the sharing from speakers and historical witnesses, readers and the public will have the opportunity to understand more deeply the harshness but also the heroic years of war, to appreciate, be proud of and preserve the precious traditional historical and cultural values ​​of the nation.

 

At the same time, playgrounds for school-age children such as painting and storytelling competitions based on books are organized to not only stimulate their rich imagination but also encourage them to explore history and foster love for their homeland through the language of painting and vivid, emotional narratives.

Especially accompanying this year's Book Day is the "Books - Clean - Green" Campaign, a meaningful initiative to combine reading culture with a green, sustainable lifestyle, demonstrating a commitment to building a civilized community that loves knowledge and is responsible for the environment.

Also within the framework of this event, the National Library of Vietnam continues to be a trusted address to receive and share book and equipment donations from organizations and individuals to libraries in remote and disadvantaged areas.
