Although the restaurant was crowded and the space was full, the two Western guests were still satisfied because the traditional Hanoi pho here was "really delicious".
Danny (from England) and Diggy (from Poland) are passionate about traveling and have been to many places.
Because of their love for Hanoi culture and cuisine, the couple decided to take a week-long trip here to enjoy the delicious food.
Among them, there was one dish that impressed the two Western guests so much that they did not hesitate to wake up early and wait in line to enjoy it. That was beef noodle soup.
The place that Danny and Diggi went to was a famous traditional pho restaurant located on Bat Dan street (Cua Dong ward, Hoan Kiem district).
This is also one of the pho restaurants in Hanoi introduced by the Michelin guide in the Bid Gourmand category (good food quality, affordable prices) in 2023 and 2024.
The restaurant opens from 6am to 10am and 6pm to 10:30pm, specializing in serving 3 beef pho dishes: rare, rare flank and well done with prices ranging from 50,000-60,000 VND/bowl.
Diggy said the couple woke up early and arrived at the restaurant at 7am to enjoy the famous traditional pho. When they arrived, there were already a lot of customers, with a long line from inside the restaurant to the sidewalk.
Although she had to wait quite a long time, the female tourist was happy because this proved that the restaurant's pho was very delicious and popular with many diners.
Danny and Diggy ordered 2 bowls of rare beef pho, priced at 60,000 VND/bowl.
Danny said he would taste the broth before adding the spices to fully appreciate the flavor of this pho dish. He commented that the broth was delicious, with a rich flavor and the aroma of simmered beef bones.
“Although the restaurant space is a bit cramped and crowded, we sat in a corner, but it was okay because the pho here is really delicious,” he said.
Then, the British guest added a little chili sauce to make the pho more flavorful and to warm up the body a bit on a slightly chilly day in Hanoi.
Seeing Danny's amazed expression, Diggy admitted that he was eager to try how delicious the pho here was.
“Oh my gosh, I didn't think it would taste this sweet,” she exclaimed when she tasted the first spoonful of broth.
According to the Polish female tourist, the pho noodles are soft and smooth. The brisket is cooked soft and sliced thinly, so it feels like it melts in your mouth.
“This is truly the perfect breakfast with a delicious, light and flavorful pho,” Diggy describes.
According to Danny, the pho here is a bit more expensive than average, but he finds the money well worth it because the food is served in a generous portion and tastes delicious.
Diggy said: "This is the best pho I've ever had."
Even after finishing their meal and standing up to leave, the two Western guests were still surprised by the large number of guests.
Not only did the indoor area fill up, many people also stood in long lines outside waiting to enjoy the famous traditional pho dish.
