Upon arriving in Hanoi, the Western tourist immediately stopped by a local restaurant to enjoy rare beef pho with scallions. This was also the dish he had for his last meal before leaving the capital.
Many foreign tourists coming to Hanoi are not only impressed by the dishes imbued with traditional Vietnamese culture, but are also attracted by dishes that are considered "strange, strange, and not everyone dares to try".
VietNamNet newspaper introduces a series of articles " Foreign visitors try Vietnamese food in Hanoi " about the experiences of international visitors when enjoying Vietnamese dishes in this city.
Logan Moffitt (from the US) is an influential content creator in the culinary field with a YouTube channel reaching over 1.08 million followers.
He became famous with the nickname "cucumber guy" in early 2024, after sharing recipes for making strange salads from cucumbers.
In addition to cooking content, on his personal channel, Logan also often posts videos about his travel experiences in some countries he has had the opportunity to visit such as Japan, Korea, Thailand...
In a video introducing his first trip to Vietnam with a stop in Hanoi, Logan revealed that he had tasted many typical dishes and drinks in the capital.
Among them, there is one dish that Western guests look forward to and want to eat as soon as they arrive in Hanoi. That is rare beef pho.
Specifically, the evening after arriving in Hanoi, Logan walked to a local restaurant on Xuan Dieu Street, Quang An Ward, Tay Ho District to eat pho.
Here, he ordered a bowl of rare beef pho and was delighted to see that the dish had lots of green onions and fresh, crunchy bean sprouts. “What I look forward to is enjoying a hot bowl of pho as soon as I arrive in Vietnam,” Logan said.
During his 5-day, 4-night journey exploring Hanoi, the American YouTuber also had the opportunity to taste rare beef pho at a famous restaurant on Hang Vai Street (Hoan Kiem District).
He learned about this pho restaurant when searching for quality dining places on Google and saw many positive reviews from tourists.
Logan commented that rare beef pho was his favorite dish on the trip because the broth was rich, aromatic, and especially had a lot of green onions – his favorite ingredient.
Even on his last morning here, Logan returned to the first restaurant he visited when arriving in Hanoi to enjoy his familiar pho dish.
“I will go back to the place I first went to when I arrived in the capital. Because I want to have another bowl of pho before returning to America,” the young man shared.
Logan revealed that his trip to Vietnam was also the first time he had the opportunity to experience famous Hanoi dishes such as bun cha, banh cuon, pho cuon, and banh mi.
Although he stopped by some random restaurants while walking around town, Logan found the food there to be delicious and reasonably priced.
“I can’t believe I’ve never had this dish before. I feel like I’ve missed something by not knowing it exists,” he exclaimed when he first ate bun cha in Vietnam.
In fact, because he was so impressed with the taste of bun cha, the American guy even enjoyed this dish 5 times during his time exploring the capital, including eating at the restaurant and buying take-out.
Besides, Logan is also passionate about Vietnamese coffee, to the point of drinking it 4-5 times a day, at different shops in the capital with many versions such as egg coffee, iced milk coffee, silver coffee, coconut coffee...
