The Dak Lak Durian Association said that in 2023, the province's durian output is estimated to reach about 200,000 tons. Up to this point, farmers have harvested and consumed over 70% of the output.
According to the Association's assessment, the 2023 durian crop will be a bumper crop with high prices, bringing high income and profits to Dak Lak farmers. However, the downside of the "hot" and uncontrolled price increase is the phenomenon of fighting for purchase and sale, price chaos, and "breaking" durian "stakes", creating huge risks and consequences affecting the quality, reputation and brand of Dak Lak durian in particular, and Vietnamese durian in general in the export market.

On the other hand, there are times when the purchase price of durian is higher than the selling price, but export enterprises have to accept the purchase because of contractual responsibilities with partners, and because of the reputation and brand of Vietnamese durian. This has put some enterprises under pressure of losses and the risk of bankruptcy.
Faced with this situation, the Dak Lak Durian Association has issued a document recommending and calling on farmers at this time to negotiate and agree on appropriate buying and selling prices with businesses to support and share some of the difficulties and risks for businesses, thereby jointly consuming about 30% of the best end-of-season durian output to bring about a comprehensive victory for the 2023 durian crop.
