The forum is part of the 2024 International Home Decoration and Gift Fair (LifeStyle Vietnam 2024), held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 18 to October 21.

The forum was organized by the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development in coordination with the Central Office for New Rural Area Coordination; the Center for Agricultural Trade Promotion; and the Vietnam Handicraft Export Association.

At the Forum, delegates shared about the development of handicrafts in Vietnam; experiences in supporting the development of OCOP products, handicrafts associated with e-commerce on digital platforms. Within the framework of the Forum, there will be 2 Discussion Sessions with guests from manufacturers, designers, distributors, suppliers and consumers.

According to artisans and businesses, with the current technology and production conditions, if the raw materials are favorable, businesses can meet the requirements of partners according to orders in terms of design, quantity and ensuring standards. Besides, many opinions say that we still have a lot of potential to be creative, design to create products with high artistic value, especially being able to combine handicraft products in different groups to create diverse and unique products.

“We have a lot of potential and opportunities in the handicraft industry. If we organize and implement well, create raw material areas, train artisans and pass on the profession, and have connections between partners such as manufacturers, designers and consumption promotion, our handicraft industry will have many opportunities to go further,” Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center - assessed.

In order to support market development and export orientation for OCOP products and handicraft products of entities and cooperatives nationwide, within the framework of the Forum, the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center and Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation signed an important Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in cooperation to promote and promote sales of Vietnamese agricultural products.

Also within the framework of the LifeStyle Vietnam 2024 International Gift and Decoration Fair, the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center organizes a handicraft product demonstration area with an area of ​​about 72 m2 and is designed with the cultural identity of Vietnamese craft villages.

The organizers arranged a system of shelves to display products and tools for artisans and craftsmen. At the same time, they invited 15 skilled artisans and craftsmen in product manufacturing fields such as: weaving, wood carving, silver carving, bark making, ceramic crafting, etc. to participate in product manufacturing demonstrations.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien said that the event aims to honor artisans and craftsmen who are creative and dedicated to traditional crafts, while contributing to preserving and promoting cultural values ​​in localities.

At the same time, it is an opportunity for artisans and craftsmen to demonstrate their skills, interact with and learn about market needs and consumer tastes. From there, it stimulates creative ideas to create new handicraft products with designs suitable to customer tastes and increase the competitiveness of handicraft products in the market.

LifeStyle Vietnam 2024 marks an important milestone with a large-scale exhibition with 1,400 booths from nearly 600 exhibitors from both Vietnam and more than 30 other countries.

Lifestyle Vietnam 2024 showcases more than 1,000 of the latest designs by artisans and designers from many countries around the world. Large exhibition areas of famous "One Village One Product (OVOP) handicraft products, expected from at least 30 countries, will also be introduced.

This is considered a major event, aiming to create a bridge between enterprises, production cooperatives and strategic customers at home and abroad. From there, it creates conditions for enterprises, artisans, and organizations related to the handicraft industry and OCOP products to exchange, learn, find partners, develop production, business, and promote handicraft products.
