On June 14, the Central Youth Union organized a seminar on "Improving the quality of Youth Union work and youth movements in vocational training institutions" in person in Hanoi and connecting online bridges in localities.

Co-chairs were Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association and Ms. Ho Hong Nguyen - Head of the Central Youth Union's School Youth Department, Permanent Vice President of the Central Vietnam Student Association.

Develop to match potential

According to the report on the current status of the Youth Union and youth movement in vocational training institutions, there are currently 1,886 vocational training institutions nationwide, of which 688 are private and foreign-invested vocational training institutions (accounting for 36%). Annually, the number of vocational training students is about 2 million.

Vocational training programs are increasingly improved, diversified and internationally integrated, including transfer programs from developed countries such as Germany, Australia, Taiwan (China), Korea, etc., helping students have more opportunities to choose and develop in vocational training.

Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet said that the seminar aims to contribute to the implementation of Directive 21 of the Central Party Secretariat on " Continuing to innovate, develop and improve the quality of vocational education to 2030, with a vision to 2045 ", concretizing the project " Career education and orientation of student streaming in general education for the period 2018 - 2025 " of the Prime Minister and implementing the resolution of the 12th National Youth Union Congress, term 2022 - 2027.

He said that in recent times, along with activities of the labor, war invalids and social affairs sector, the Youth Union and youth movements in vocational training institutions have also contributed to the development of students.

The Youth Union and youth movement work areas are of interest to the Youth Union chapters at all levels in vocational education institutions and are deployed relatively evenly and fully to the Youth Union establishments, Youth Union cadres, union members, pupils and students.

However, besides the achievements, he pointed out that there are still limitations in the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement at vocational training institutions such as: the content of political and ideological education, ethics and lifestyle does not have many specific, unique and breakthrough solutions, activities at the institutions do not have much investment in scale and the attraction of union members is still low.

The number of Youth Union organizations and members in the vocational education sector is still modest. The management of Youth Union members in provincial and municipal Youth Unions and affiliated units faces many difficulties. Most Youth Union officials are old and hold concurrent jobs, so they do not have much time to organize activities for Youth Union members and young people.

"It needs more investment, attention, and development to be worthy and worthy of its current potential," said Mr. Triet.

Improve the quality of business connections

At the seminar, Mr. Le Minh Thao - Head of Vocational Education Department, Hanoi Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs - pointed out the limitations of vocational education students in terms of time (learning both vocational and cultural studies), so their participation in activities and movements of the Youth Union is still limited.

Not to mention, the movements lack appeal and creativity, and the majority of the Youth Union cadres hold part-time positions...

Mr. Thao proposed to further promote the active, proactive and creative role of the Youth Union Executive Committee in vocational education institutions and diversify activities for union members and youth in the vocational education sector, motivating them to contribute to Youth Union activities, especially volunteer activities for the community.

From the Ho Chi Minh City bridge, Ms. Tran Thu Ha - Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Student Association - shared Ho Chi Minh City's experience with solutions to effectively implement the "Students 3 trainings" movement with three criteria: training ethics, manners; training skills; training skills, physical strength.

In particular, focusing on solutions to create an environment for union members and youth in vocational education to approach and participate in the movements of the Union and promote propaganda work in schools and in the press to widely deploy the movement to students.

Through practical experience, Ho Chi Minh City has proposed a number of solutions to improve the quality of Youth Union work and youth movements in vocational education institutions, emphasizing the continued implementation of the "Students 3 training" movement, creating an environment for groups of subjects in vocational education institutions to have a training environment, connecting students with businesses that recruit high-quality human resources.

Ms. Tran Minh Huyen - Director of the Department of Student Affairs, General Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs - also shared some solutions to innovate and develop vocational education in the current context.

That is to strengthen career guidance, carry out well the work of streaming, carry out both vocational training and cultural teaching at vocational education institutions, so that students graduate with both a high school diploma and a vocational diploma of guaranteed quality, have the conditions to participate in the labor market and have the opportunity to continue studying and improve their qualifications.
