According to a recent survey conducted by Kaspersky to study shopping behavior during the 2023 holidays, up to 90% of survey participants admitted to making impulse purchases during super sale days.
The rush to shop online during the holiday season has also led to an increase in scams and cyberattacks. According to a Kaspersky report, e-commerce platforms were the target of more than 13.3 million cyberattacks in the first 10 months of 2023. Accordingly, Kaspersky experts predict that artificial intelligence (AI) fraud will increase in both quantity and sophistication.
Ms. Vo Duong Tu Diem, Director of Kaspersky Vietnam, shared: “Cybercriminals can easily gain trust and make billions of dollars from shoppers by exploiting AI in many extremely sophisticated ways. In the face of these dangerous threats, we call on everyone to constantly raise awareness of cybersecurity in the online environment and proactively take steps to protect themselves from fraudsters during the shopping process.”
To protect users from phishing attempts to steal personal information and assets during the holiday shopping season, Kaspersky recommends: Do not trust any links or attachments received via email, always verify the sender before opening anything; Before filling in any information, carefully check for spelling errors, website design errors and e-store URLs; Use credit cards with low limits or reduce credit limits based on spending trends; Protect all devices currently used for online shopping with a reliable security solution, such as Kaspersky Internet Security with Safe Money or Kaspersky Premium, which helps protect users from shopping scams...
