Speaking to reporters, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said that “the country is doing and will continue to do everything possible to alleviate the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip,” adding that Rome does not forget those who are suffering and is committed to de-escalating the conflict.

The C-130J aircraft departed from the central Italian city of Pisa to Larnaca airport in Cyprus, where all of its cargo was to be transferred to Gaza.

Earlier this year, Italy launched an initiative called Food for Gaza to help people there and has sent several aid shipments to those affected by the war-torn Palestinian enclave.

On November 14, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly expressed deep concern about the dire humanitarian situation across Gaza and warned of "life-threatening acute malnutrition".

Foreign Minister Melanie Joly cited a November 8 report by the Famine Assessment Commission that indicated a high likelihood of famine in parts of the northern Gaza Strip. The commission had previously warned that 133,000 people in Gaza were facing severe food insecurity.
