On March 24, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto warned that a terrorist attack similar to the shooting at a concert venue near Moscow (Russia) could happen in countries where the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) terrorist group is present.

In an interview with Messaggero, Minister Crosetto said: "The US warned Moscow's intelligence agencies, explaining that IS had been attacked to some extent but had not been destroyed. On March 22, IS responded. The attack happened in Russia, but such attacks can still happen in many other countries where IS is present and active.
The attack shows a high level of danger and even in Europe we should not let our guard down." At the same time, when talking about the possibility of Kiev participating in the attack, Minister Crosetto said that there was no such possibility and that Ukraine's allies would never allow this to happen, asserting that "Kiev even thinking about helping IS would be tantamount to double suicide."
The attack on the Crocus City Hall theater has so far left at least 133 people dead and more than 150 injured. Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said 11 people have been detained in connection with the attack, including four who were directly involved. The Russian Interior Ministry said the four suspected shooters were all foreign nationals.
