The IDF added that Hezbollah's southern front commander Ali Karaki was also killed along with several other commanders of the Lebanon-based armed group.

The Israeli Air Force attacked Hezbollah's central headquarters using precise intelligence from its intelligence wing and defense systems. The headquarters is located underground, beneath a residential building in the Lebanese capital Beirut.

On the same day, the Israeli army also announced that it was mobilizing three reserve battalions to strengthen the defense of the central command, the combat unit in charge of the West Bank area.

The decision was made just ahead of important Jewish holidays, amid continuing conflict in the West Bank between Palestinian militants and Israeli forces.

Violence in the West Bank has increased significantly since Hamas' offensive into Israel last October. The situation has been particularly dire with an increase in attacks by Palestinian militant groups and clashes with Israeli forces.

In recent weeks, Israel has launched several offensives against Palestinian militants in West Bank cities such as Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarm and Tubas, causing severe damage to people and infrastructure.
